It's rumoured to have some copy protection or being a demo since some people are having problems with advancing in the game, I have no idea really but here's the file. Demo.

i played a bit into the training dungeon and it displayed a screen "thanks you for playing".

or maybe it's the protection. It wouldn't be 128 MB if it was a demo, it's more likely to be some form of protection, people say they can keep playing by loading their save game though. Dunno if it's worth it though. Yeah, might not be worth it if I have to reload every 5-10 minutes.

Maybe someone will come along and crack it.

When finally I start to like FF series, this happens... :P I read elsewhere that people using R4DS flash cartridges have to update their firmware to the latest version (v1.16) for this to work. Apparently the problem applies to flash carts, CycloDS and AceKard is confirmed working so far. Oh man..so are we stuck with this version for a long while? =[ i hope someone cracks this as soon as possible and post it here I'll make sure to post a comment if a working firmware update is released for a cart. 1.16 doesnt work. doH! so this was their APE strong encryption. oh well...back to the chinese version of the game. Agree with perrification..firware 1.16 for R4 is a no go for success.

R4 It seems that the "Thanks for playing" is triggered on a certain amount of time, because I wasn't even able to get through the first dungeon without it popping up. I did leave my DS on for about 15 minutes during the intro, so that probably ate up alot of my demo time. On top of that I did try the multiplayer mode by myself and once again the thanks for playing came up about 3/4 through the first dungeon. I have an R4; guess i'll have to wait for the firmware update.. i'm currently on 1.16. It usually pops up when you move from one place to another and it loads the "thanks for playing" instead of the new place. So about every 30 min. of gameplay, it goes to the screen "thanks for playing?" So does that mean I have to save then turn off the power to reset the 30 min. demo timer, then turn it back on and I'll be able to go through the game (that's if I keep on saving and turning off the power every 30 min.)? To vat2nike... well if you are so desperate to play this game, Yeah you can do that i guess. hah I use the R4 and all I'm getting is a blank screen!
It's not working anyway but..have I not got the latest firmware? Same with me, after 30 minutes or less

i'm using R4 1.16 kernel Is the problem only on a flashcart? i mean if i play in on my pc will that work? Jim1990: No you don't have the latest firmware, but even if you did it wouldn't work past the 20 minutes limit.
christopher2k7: It's a problem with the flash carts yes, I don't know if it will happen on an emulator too, regardless, I doubt emulators are capable of handling this game at this point. I played on the no$gba emulator last night for 6 hours straight and not once did it cut off or get the message. Went to bed got as far as 3rd dungeon. I never use my M3 Real, I gave it to my daughter but I guess i will have to borrow it hehe. Doesnt work on the G6 Real either. I heard that it may be fixed with DSLazy Kit. can anyone confirm? Has been working fine for 40 minutes on my R4 v 1.16 for me... dont know why it is happening for all you lot though Got it working on r4ds reformat and place ring of fate file in root directory(maybe what help the most) OK so I really like this game and im going to do the whole save every 2o mins or so. I have an M3 Simply and Im in the first cave right now. this is my second time doing it and im going through past the part with the boulder. the first time i did it I got that Thanks for PLaying screen. Im sorry im not exactly, the best when it comes to this kind of stuff but how do I reformat my R4?

If you could help that'd be awesome. Connect micro flash card to computer window should pop up the card will be assigned so kind of letter will be different for everyone if no pop up go to start menu select computer from right side of panel box will open with all available drives on your computer one will be the flash card you have connected to your computer click on each to view contents untill you find the letter that is your micro flash card once you know which letter is your flash card right click on the letters drive icon and select format a window will pop up select fat32 and begin format this will erase everything of the card so be sure copy everything over to a file on your desk top to copy back when format is complete be sure to have latest r4ds kernel get it here

the root directory is simply the first window that opens when you click on flash card drive letter you can create folders on the flash card and place files inside these are sub directories so placing files on a flash cards root directory is simply placing the file on the card without placing it in a folder Yes, it stinks that many of us have this problem. My guess is that future releases from Squenix may also have anti-piracy things like this embedded in the code as well. Brownen
It works,but only for the first 20 minutes.It doesn't resolve anything. Hackers will probably get a way around it lets just wait for a few days. hmm... why didnt the japanese rom apply this new anti piracy measure, talk about biased lol The game simply has a way of finding out if it was patched for use with a flashcart. Slot 1 carts don't need to patch at all, because they don't have to tell the NDS to save the save game file to Slot 2.

All one would have to do is open up the ROM and delete/sabotage the protection so that flashcarts that require changes for the ROM to work on Slot 2 cards wouldn't be detected.

Oh, yeah. It must not work. Well you see M3 simply and R4 aren't clean. They still patch on the go.

Basically what I'm trying to say is that if your flashcart needs to patch the ROM in any way you're screwed. Ack, does anyone know anything about G6 compatability? gbatemp is down and I'm apprehensive ?> I tried unpacking the Japanese and US versions using dslazy, and looking at the files, they are all identical, no new ones, or none missing, just different sizes.

I took the files from the US version and placed them into the japanese version, booted it up, and it all seems to be working.

I haven't played far into it, as I've got to go out now, so if anyone wants to try what I did, and test it past the 20 - 30 minute timer thing, go for it.

I took all of the files in data and overlay, and left the files in the root of the UNPACK folder there. Hey lukav, did you already had that new version on that system of yours?

i got the same problem, but the white screen is now gone thanks to that firmware, if you want it, there is a site with special R4 downloading, maybe it also works for M3, i hope so...

there is something fishy about it, 128 mb for a game of 5-10 minutes?! I dont think so... I tried sending an e-mail to the R4 site citing this problem but I haven't got any replies though. I'm using an M3 Real I bought last month. This is the full game but you have to keep saving then restart from where you last saved to restart the demo timer.....Which sucks lol. Like you all ive been waiting for this game for sometime and trust this to happen to a game i want lol. Im using a Fire Card and it dont work for me evither, Does anyone know if they do updates for this kind of thing for my flashcard?

So, wait, Nintendo is evil for attempting to stop piracy now? If they wanted to be nasty, they'd pull an Earthbound and wipe the whole card at a certain point in the game, if it wasn't a standard DS card. Well said DarkTakeru.
Seriously, think about it, we are downloading and playing these games ILLEGALLY. you are lucky that you can even play most of the games. So I wouldn't wine if I were you, though I agree this is an awsome game. If you guys are so desparate to play it, why not just buy the actual game. The game in stock is flawless. Okay, so i updated my flashcart to v1.12 and i finally got this game to work on my M3 simply. all i did was delete the old _DS_MENU and the _DS_MSHL and dragged the new ones in there place. i only did this so i wouldnt have to redo all my personal settings. i "skipped event" but i dont know remember if that was when you name your character. i saved the game after 1 minute of playtime. hopefully i dont get the "thanks for playing" screen. @ravenloud.
I Agree with you to be fair, Although i dont really want to pay for this game i have saved ALOT of money getting the games off the net then buying them. So buying this odd one is'nt really going to hurt. Thanks for the G6 patch ^^ Yeah guys, why not just buy it and play it.
And when I say "it", I'm of course talking about CycloDS ;) I only download these games so i can play them faster cause i live in the netherlands in europe and we allways have to wait like 3 months like you have ssbb but we will get it over 6 months maby later. Worked on my No$Gba too.
Seems the only game I've played worked better on emulator than on a real DS :D It may be a fluke for me, but every time I download the file I get told that the file is corrupt and the archive ended early/ abruptly. my guess is that this rip was done in haste and is simply buggy. I cant even get the file download to start... any suggestions?
Nvm its working now lol Right, well i have got out of the 1st dungeon and have been playing for like 50mins or so using my DSX and its working fine! UPDATE ON WHICH CARDS WORK AND WHICH IS AFFECTED BY THE ANTI-PIRACY PROTECTION...

If your card is in the "non-working list", either save often and reload from your save when you get the dreaded Moogles or wait until a new patch/firmware is released for your card...

You WILL get the "thank you for playing screen"... Longest I have played is nearly 1 hour with a R4 on 1.16 before the anti-piracy protection kicked in. Man! This sucks... I have to read all the comments above, and so far no luck. I tried playing for like 2 hrs, and then that THING came out. After that, it started coming out every 5 minutes... It won't even start on the m3 simply. sigh.
it boots a white screen and stays like that. It starts fine on my M3 simply, but I do get the dreaded moogles. It's got anti-piracy protection but I believe there is a new cracked rom somewhere with bittorrent that removes the Moogle PWNT screen, I'll see if I can find that somewhere lol So i been searching and i have found a working rom. tried it, past the 1st and 2nd dungeon without the thanks for playing sign . It is for anyone who can dl torrents I am using EDGE, and I tried to use the latest version OS which is 1.32, and that didn't work. Then I used the old version OS which is 1.2, it worked like a charm (so far). I haven't play it long enough to find out if the "thank you for playing" would come out though. It's not a working rom, but I know you're still going to download it, so go ahead :P I heard the boxxle one doesn't work. Boxxle one is fake, Micronauts release is exact same file as this one. There's nothing wrong with the file guys, just accept that you can't play this game if you've got a cart that patches the ROMs. Oh well this game is worth the $45 but I think its the Online play is what makes it really fun.
