Fantastic game - I love it. I've been playing it in Japanese for quite some time now - with help from some translations I found on the internet; but even though I've played for a long time it's so great to play it in english now. Suddenly I understand everything and that makes it a lot easier and more fun. :)

I love the music - the voices - everything. And I don't care what anyone else says about Rune Factory 1 or 2 - it's my favorite games - and number 2 is even better than all the Harvest Moon games imho.

OK, Rune Factory 2 is a lot like its predecessor in the fact that it has the most horrid interface and presentation. Everything is cool, except nothing is great or expanded upon. The menu system makes me want to vomit, but I still love this game.

I found rune factory 1 to be ridiculously slow, requiring a lot of grinding to be able to do anyhting. I ejoyed Harvest moon for it's simple, laid back outlook, but the first RF was just too "rush, rush, rush" cause you couldn't do anything in the dungeons until the damn fruit finished growing. Anyone wanna give some actual insight into the game and stop talking about how freaking good it is. Please people, not everyone loves the same games you do, some of us are looking for something good to play, and your comments aren't helpful. Don't mean to sound preachy, but this is a reoccuring problem at romulation, and they've recently added it to the rules

Thanks romulation people, yep it does save, and i got one little problem with the game though, it goes "image crash" or whatever it is .... it happens randomly, it always and only happens when you when you read the sign outside the barn. anyway harvest moon games rocks!!!!

For people that don't really have a clue what the game is about, you should compare it a bit with Animal crossing, with a higher learning curve and a more mature version of life. Don't take that too literally though, there is nothing really more mature about it, what I meant to say was that it doesn't focus too much on a purely imaginary way of living, like animal crossing does, even if it has high moral standards. Where in Animal crossing you have time dependant occurences like a KK slider performance on friday night, aside from the obvious day and night cycle, seasons and holidays. Rune factory goes beyond that, incorporating game elements that rely on time(contrary to ACWW, the time in Rune factory is fictional).

If you're looking for a game with persistence, without constant dungeon crawling or puzzle solving, something that is laid back, yet can be challenging to master, this might just be the game for you.

It's good to note that theres fighting, farming, fishing, cooking and other crap you can do, and a story and timeline that is realistic and down to earth enough for anyone to get dragged into it.

Rune Factory 2 seems to be a pretty polished game, with nice graphics and animations, I'd grade it above average to good. The only thing it really lacks is proper visual aids or an ingame guide, a complete beginner can easily be oblivious to how the simple things work, the good side of this is that you don't get beaten to death with tutorials that take away all the joy of starting up a new game for the first time.

rune factory 3 in one month!!! and its a ds only game!!! woot!! (from wikipedia) Rune Factory 3 will include a new item called the "Transformation Belt" that will allow the player to transform into monsters, with new battle commands and NPC interaction. The game will feature new AI with dynamic schedules and an underground farm.

i luv this game, the game's storyline is much better than the first but the interface hasn't improved much
the placeing of everything was most likely to get it out of the way because there its no like the structure of a town
but all in all its fun to play even if i get bored i can't stop
