    I shall test to see if the patch works for this version.

    Which is why you should all just use the damn JAP region release. Full English in it so all this USA region is better bull is stupid. Also stop with reporting the "same here" thing, if you must report what it works on and what it doesn't work on then state full hardware and software. Like R4 DS 1.19 instead of just "it doesn't work".

  • Ok, I couldn't get the JAP region one working with the patch, this works without the patch, but glitches at the teleportation bit. I then patched it, but I presume this patch was for the JAP version, now I just get a white screen. I'm using an EDGE card, v1.41. If there's anyone who can help, it'd be greatly appreciated.

    This man speaks the truth. There is no difference between the two versions, so just use the Japanese version, patch it, and bam you're done.

If you prefer to be in all these troubles just to play the same kindly prepared for you game in a version that doesnt have the (J) but insteed the US or EU region, then go on and good luck. I already enjoy the, about two weeks already, released game without tiring my mind so much and thankfull for being given the opportunity to do so, and I would advise you to do so.

  • GreenBanana the game is much longer, there is a "Anti-Piracy Lock" that prevents you from progressing on further.

    Also, is the Japanese version have an english patch? Or does it already have full english in it?

    It's already full english by default on mine. But I'm not sure if it contains the improved english script or the original which is what I want to know.

  • Guys download the japanese version its the same thing. then download the current cheats for the game. there's a code that lets you enable the game.

  • Heck, I can wait a little longer until they can at least get a fully working rom up. I have an AceKard 2 that can apparently take .DAT files when I paste them onto the cheats file on my cartridge. I downloaded the USR4 DAT file and it had a cheat for CT US called "Fix." I checked it and tried it, and it didn't work for my game. Got stuck at the first time warp screen. At this rate, since I am a fan of the game, I might shell out the 30-35 bucks for it.

  • Unlike the japanese version this one recognize my system's language and launches the game in french, so i really need a working fix for this particular release. If you find a working fix, please post a link here! *crosses fingers*
    (I tested the fix actually being spreaded and it only corrupts the rom according to no$gba 2.6a)

    Depends on your definition of "improved". I don't like what I've seen so far of the new translation (Fiendlord? Give me a break!), but it is the one that's used in the Japanese version.

    What a dork I am. I shouldn't have waited for this version, especially since I see people complaining...you get the game for free at the very least, you should be grateful. I'm buying this, or trying out the Jap version. This is a must for me, since I haven't got the chance to finish the SNES version...

  • I made a fix patch for this ROM, should remove the warp and cathedral crashes,
    I'm pretty sure it won't work for M3 carts though, because they had a special fix for this ROM
    in the Japanese version so I guess it'll be the same for the US release.

    Feel free to comment about it, I can confirm it working with R4 and this very rom.
    Just make sure to rename the rom to chrono.nds and place it in the same folder as the patcher.

    The cheat for the JP version does work (It's not the cheat's problem that you don't know how to put it on your Flashcard), dunno about the US version (but I'm sure the one GBAtemp released for the US version should), I doubt I'll try it after spending over 40 hours in the former anyway.

    Instructions:
    1. Unpack the patcher
    2. Place rom in same directory as patcher
    3. Rename rom to chrono.nds

    There's always the manual bypass method by enabling the bypass AR codes.. Just download the latest cheat database from http://cheats.gbatemp.net

  • Dude when I got the JAP Patched vr. It doesn't go past the "Initializing Save Data" I am using a DS ONE and I have heard this from others also, I guess we have to wait for the English Patch for this problem.

  • To get the chrono trigger us game working. you must download the cheat code for the fix here is the link http://cheats.gbatemp.net/latest/All.zip . and activate the m3 fix. hope this works out for you

  • @ bizzle: Yeah, final filesize varies depending on the patcher you used, the filesize I posted was kinda,, approximate (didn't remember either, lol). By the way, which flashcard are you using? :)

    @ pencildarts: It's your choice, either download the Cheat DB and enable the Fix cheat for your flashcard, or use my patcher, which prepatches the rom and also pads it, saving up a total of ~44MB space on your flashcard. One's for sure, you can only do one of them. So it's either the patch, or the cheat.

  • Whenever I try to run the game in my R4 I get an error message, "Unable to access data. Plesae turn the power OFF and reinsert the Game Card." This is with the patched and unpatched verisons. Can anyone help me out please? I don't think I downloaded/installed it onto my R4 any differntly than any other game.

  • Regarding M3 save issues. Guy who wrote about it said he just had to update the firmware for his M3, applied my patch and saving works fine now/no crashes. :)

    like the whole R4 firmware and a skinned moonshell (sorry buddy, I like my skins as well ;p)

  • CycloDS's firmware just got officially updated for Chrono Trigger, so you shouldn't need any patches, just get the latest firmware.

    nit's useless for CycloDS users now, since there's an updated firmware now, but e.g. I got a comment from a guy that it works perfectly on a N-card clone.
    Don't use this patch for R4/M3, get the corresponding patch for each cart :)

  • I feel like I have tried everything here, I am using an EDGE card - version 1.41. I tried patching the original Jap version, got a white screen. Tried this one, crashed at the teleportation screen, tried getting the cheat database, the cheats do not even show up, still crashed there. Tried a number of patches, including the above one from 1ns0mn14, and I am back to two white screens again, please, any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • 1ns0mn14's misc patch seems to work fine on the supercard, it at least loads now, haven't tested much more than that.

  • I did, i place the rom in a folder in my R4, then i placed the patch in the same folder. I renamed my rom to chrono.nds. Then i pressed patch when i opened the patch and it generated a chrono-patched rom with nothing in it, not even a single kb or anything. Just a plain old zero. And it generated another file called XDELTA. Then when I went to play, the time warp is still there when i get up to that event.

    kaziji there's a reskinned moonshell in there and moonshell only supports one skin :P
    AndyPandy44 which patch did you use? if you used the M3 one I havent tested it at all.

    the misc patch is the most universally compatible patch as it seems.
    It works on R4 as well and more importantly it enables the use of cheats even though the rom is patched.
    When I enabled cheats on the first patch I posted I got a white screen hang.
    With the last patch I don't get any hang, and it does it's job bypassing the crashes too :)

    so I recommend downloading the misc patch, it's the most smooth one.

    It doesn't work on M3 Real, but then again no patch works for M3 Real at the moment and I dont have a cart to do the testing :(

  • @ awickedmove: dude.. it's supposed to be named chrono.nds, not chrono.nds.nds, I bet you got file extensions hidden just right click on the file and select properties and you'll see the full filename.
    Besides you're supposed to use the chrono-patched.nds.. you see the filename is chrono-patched.nds and not "chrono-patched" :P

    1. Download the japanese version of the game (It contains the english language as a option)
    2. Go to GBATemp and get the latest cheats file....
    3. Put both the game and the latest cheat file onto your flash cart
    4. Enable the "Anti-Piracy Bypass" and the "language>English"
    5. Launch game

    That's how easy it is...No patching to do

    Btw...The US and Jap English Script is EXACTLY the same....kthxbai...see ya nxt week *jumps out of a window*

  • There is another way. You could update your cheats at http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=8 4991. Then put it in ur emulator. There should be a cheat called privacy lock at the bottom of the cheats. Use that and choose either one. There is one just for M3 and one for other chips. I have on Cyclo and it pasted the portal safely.

  • Hey I have an DS ONE Card, can anyone patch a US version that will work, I have tried using patched and patching for the DS ONE with some of the patches and patched raw files and the farthest it goes it to the "Initializing Save Data" screen or it just stays white on start up. I really hope a patch for Supercard DS ONE comes out really soon, I have been waiting for this game for so long lol.

  • Ripper278, in the start menu, go to the CT game settings (where it shows the checked boxes) and remove the check from the enable patch box. It worked on mine.

  • If I patch the ROM it'll just show 2 white screens,But when I use the cheat from gbatemp everything works perfectly.

  • To cranium_99: Yes, I have tried updating my cheats database already with the file taken from gbatemp, and pasted on my Edge card. Maybe it's something wrong with the way I did it? I mean, all you have to do is to enable cheats in the settings of the DS, load the ROM and that should be it, right? I'm still getting stuck at the time warp stage. Tried it on both japanese and US versions.

  • To Rabbit75: Since you are using EDGE, when you enable Cheats in the Misc/Settings, do you see a Cheats Selection window when loading a game? Since I have upgraded my firmware to 1.41, I don't get the "Are you sure you want to enable cheats for this game?" question anymore.

  • I have tried both the cheats and 1ns0mn14 patch and it works on my R4DS v1.18. I just encountered stuck up problem and it occurred near the end part of the opening movie of CT. But that can be neglected cause you can skip the intro movie part. I just want to know if anyone encountered the same problem as mine. i will retry the patching and see if it will occur again.

    Still no fix for M3 Real out, I got no cart to test it. Tried a second attempt at the M3 patch, but I doubt it works.. sorry guys!

    if you are playing the us version, click the us one, or japaneese if you're playing the japan one

    once you download the patcher, u should have:

    ctdsu-ttds.delta
    patch

    xdelta

    place the game in the same folder as these progeams, then click patch. the game will turn into ctdsu-ttde. and another one will appear in the folder but with about 84 mbs, you want the 84 mbs one. after that. just place it into your r4 and u should be good to go.

  • For NCard clones, none of the 3 patches released are working. Two of them give white screens and the misc one works, but then it gets stuck at opening menus. And NCard clones don't allow cheats, so I cannot use cheat to bypass the warp, so I guess CT rom is unplayable on NCards, unless someone has a better solution.

  • EZFlash V on its own also gets stuck at the warp screen. Running the patch causes the two white screens problem.

  • To those that still get white-screen etc issues after patching I recommend again Cracker's (@GBAtemp, maker of DSATM) patch..

    Even though it's intended for TTDS it proved to be highly compatible with a wide variety of carts...
    I've made a patcher for it...
    It uses cracker's xdelta file so full credit goes to him,
    I basically just repacked it, making the installation easier (and tested it)..

    TYI: All the guy did was upload an already cracked rom, spreading confusion
    as it's unknown which patch the rom uses and what problems could be caused by it on some carts.
    Eg the rom patch initially released is able to trash the microSD for DSTT users..

  • DSTT Users - Its very simpe to fix Chrono Trigger.

    I tried 1ns0mn14's fix but it did not work, and cracker's downloads is down.

    1) Simply down this: http://cheats.gbatemp.net/latest/All.zip

    2) Unzip and copy USRCHEAT into the TTMenu. Overwrite (Don't forget to backup in case anything goes wrong)

    3) Turn on your DS, go to ChronoTrigger and push the +, cheat, enable bypass - non-m3.

    4) Save, and you're good to go!

  • I'm currently using the patch for the m3 simply card. Works fine, no incidents at all, got past the first warp no problems. just find the patch on google and apply it, it cuts down the size of the file which alarmed me at first, but it doesn't hurt the game at all.

    But when I put cheat "on" there is no "enable bypass" function ther. :(

    I have tried a lot of the patches, which are supposedly meant to work for the NDSTT, but I haven't had any luck...

    You should do this:

    "3) Turn on your DS, go to ChronoTrigger and push the +, push on the cheatbutton, push on the + before the cronotrigger game,
    you will then see a list of cheats and its the first cheat named "Piracy Check Bypass Cheat", push that and then you can enable the bypass as non-m3.

    In that patcher I had changed the script a bit so drunk people won't get 0-byte files and wonder why..
    if the original rom isn't in the same folder and named chrono.nds , where the ".nds" part is the file extension and "chrono" is the file name.. I don't think it can get much easier anyway~


    @ Infinite Chaos, I didn't mean something like that, though I was kinda pissed when I saw patched roms being spread..
    There's an issue that a patch that came out could trash the microSD card of certain cartridges, and if you had patched he rom with that one we'd only get more confusion over here.
    aaronx83 even reports of virus infected roms, though I don\'t think packing a virus on an nds file is smart (if possible at all, lolz) since you don't execute an NDS file on your pc ;) or it might be someone was spreading a virus/trojan-packed patcher along with it

    but yeah, you're right and I'm sorry if talked in a bad way, all you were trying to do is help out, just like me ^^

    btw I'm surprised the makers of the R4 clone I'm using (R4 III) made a new kernel/firmware update and the game's still not fixed, have to stick with the patched rom or cheats ;((

    I'm already anticipating that we'll have more than this when Chinatown Wars and DQ9 comes out this year.

    I loved Robo's theme and the Victory's Fanfare tune... Great game.

    Now if only Ocarina of Time is brought to the DS...

  • US trigger works well with NO$GBA, for the warp problem, just download the cheats here, http://cheats.gbatemp.net/, just pick the latest.,
    .,then open the cheats file w/ wordpad, ctrl-f for the chrono tigger, then copy the Piracy Check Bypass Cheat (the codes) to the cheat code.,then enable it by double-clicking the box after clicking ok,.

    EVERYONE USE gg6371's TUTORIAL!! its simple and very easy to do. I am a noob and i could do it!

    I tried 1ns0mni4 s first and it didn't work. Through no fault of his or the patches i am such a noob i'm not really sure what a directory is! (is it a folder?)

    and the cheat way seems even more complicated to me. i didnt even try that one. (it is possibly the easiest if you do try though)

    gg6371's is simple and very easy. just follow his steps posted on here.

  • HEY I FIGURED OUT HOW TO FIX THE PORTAL ANTI PRIVACY THING FOR ALL FLASHCARDS



    1. Google search "Chrono trigger ROM torrent working"

    2. You should come accross a torrent with "JAP-ENG" in its name (THERES ONLY 1 type apart from the normal one)

    3. Download the contents and extract it all

    4. Override the "usercheat" file that is on your flashcart with the one that comes with chrono trigger

    5.Go to your flashcards menu and press Y to cheat and SWITCH OF THE ANTI PIRACY by clicking the first option

    6. Go and play!

  • When I play it, it has a glitch. when you're in the festival at the start of the game. When you step into the teleporter it brings up the psycadelic cutscene how you're spinning through he portal. It just keeps going on. The portal thing won't stop. Anyone else gettin the same problem?

It's the second edition of chrono trigger. Awsome game! And also try Radical Dreamers, which is also part of the chrono sequal.

  • This is a small bug, but I've seen from using the patched version, that all the codes that worked for the unpatched version disappear from the menu. You can't access them at all. Anyone have a list of codes that will work for the patched version?

  • Really, really, REALLY GOOD GAME. If you like final fantasy and other square-enix title, you owe yourself to download thid game.

  • Everyone, there are many patches for this title in many websites the trick is simple, download the patch, put it in the same dir where your US version is, the patch must have instructions but if it doesn't then just change the name of your rom to the same as the patch and then run the .bat or .exe for the patch, if you did it correctly then it will create a new .nds file with 128mb size, if you did it wrong it will be 0kb size, copy this new created file in your r4 or any card you have and this is it, indeed the game is so good you should buy it, but if you want to save your money for some food then fix the game.

  • Hey I had the problem when I entered the time war it keept looping forever practically crashing.

    So I took off the cutscenes which u can do in the game menu and the game worked fine after. Also whenever the time warp crash happened on the other time warps at#fter, I just switched off my DS, switched it back on made sure cutscenes were off

  • Try to patch the game and results in blank white screen. After patching I got chrono-patch file with size 86 MB. Get back and use unpatched rom and the opening screen appeared. And surprisingly it didn't crash in Lucca's portal in the early game, hope the game runs smoothly till the end.
    Use R4 with firmware kernel 1.18.

    And what I saw on the internet that Chrono Trigger looked completely different than this one on the ds.

  • this game sucks!!!! LMFAO!!!! YEAH RIGHT!!! this is one of the greatest games ever made, let alone in the RPG genre. if anyone hasn't played this (must've been in a cave, without a SNES!lol ) then waste no more time in reading comments and download it already!!!!

    This works now on my R4 card thanks to PB68Baller and the usrcheat file
    the code above makes it possible to go past the first warp.

  • I am downloading the rom as I write right now.The Japanese anime style games never appealed to me but everywhere I look I see people raising this game for being so good and such,so I think I'll give it a try,and besides that i have 140 MB free space on my micro sd
