  • I played the US version of this game and to be absolutely honest with you, I was put off the whole "use the stylus to move and do stuff" concept that the game used. Mind you, I love the Harvest Moon games, but I really hate the controls of Island of Happiness.

  • I agree with Mui. I'm also a fan of the Harvest Moon game. Since I can't play it on my DS, I tried it with the No$GBA emulator. Using the mouse as Stylus , walking about and doing stuffs are pissing me off plus it's making me kinda giddy too.

  • I couldn't agree more with Mui and Yoshimaru. I was looking foward to the post, but after i download it, i find it very dissapointing. The US version also seemed to have some problems when you use it on No$GBA. Anyways i think the story might seem interesting even if the controls are bad. I recommend Harvest Moon DS, Harvest Moon DS Cute, and Rune Factories 1 and 2, they are far better. Cheers to Harvest Moon

  • It seems the controls seem to be the pet peeve of everyone here, including me.
    I'm sure they could have used the same interface but used the arrow keys. And i totally agree supapong, try the other games, they're so much better.

  • I agree all... I think that the control of island of happiness is too hard...I am harvest moon fans too! Hope there will be a new version in harvest moon that can be choose use arrow key or touch screen to control.

  • I suggest you guys keep an eye on Harvest Moon Shining Suns and Friends and hope it gets a release. I hear that the game goes back to the whole "D-Pad moves" idea.

  • Game content is great but the controls are really lacklustre.

  • Possibly one of the most challenging of the Harvest Moon series to date. Great stuff, new map, new characters and new concepts of play. Each 'main' character have their own distinct personality and look which is exceptional character mapping and could be related to. A little harder when it comes to courting but overall the gameplay is amazing. Loving Natsume's works!

  • I'd use your DSlite Angela. There are often technichal problems with this game on No$gba. I quite like this game and I prefer the graphics to the other harvest moons, but i agree that the controls are somewhat disappointing.

  • As long as you're playing it on a real DS, there's no problems. The controls work well, IMO, albeit take a bit of getting used to. Only played a few seasons as of yet but appears to be of the standard of other Harvest Moon games, if not following the traditional route.

  • I agree with yoshimaru and saiyajin Mui i also found it disappointing because i hate the controll to move can you remake it and rename it (Harvest Moon island of happiness New Vision)

  • Ahhhh question what version of no$gba will i use i played the english version created by junkrat but..it has a virus so many glitch bugs and viruses but the game is awesome..

  • Havest Moon: Island of Happiness is the newest addition to the Harvest Moon series, which I am a fan of. I agree though that the controls could be better. After all, Pokemon on the DS hardly uses the stylus and still gets along just fine.
    However, HM on the DS uses the stylus to not only move around, but to take care of your animals, which, if you have many animals, becomes a very, very long and boring process of taking care of them every single day. You have to rapidly stroke and pet each one to gain friendship points.
    Still, not much change on the story here, if there ever was a story to begin with. One of the main features of HM is the fact that you can make your OWN story by choosing a different bachelor each time. I strongly suggest that you use a FAQ for events, as you wouldn't want to run into a rival event accidentally.

    Great graphics as usual, as much as you could expect from a Harvest Moon game.

  • Game looks really good but controls are a piece of crap. Could have done a better work. I agree with choipoh - remake it.

  • Okay, seems a lot of people here have had this spoilt by preferring previous HM controls - this is the first Harvest Moon I played though I have them all and I think its awesome - look a little getting used to working it entirely with the stylus but really doesn't take long to pick up and makes it a very fluid game - if anything I find the other HMs a little disappointing in comparison - I'm happily into my 3rd year of this and can't put it down...
