  • If the release is not patched, you can try and use GBATemp Narin's Cheat code and the software DSATM... or else you can go and check the discussion about the same game, but in the European version, people were there explaining it also... and giving a link to a patched file... :)

  • Team Cyclops just released 1.54b3 firmware that added compatibility for the EU version (3396). I'll check the US version and see if it works as well. I give it 50/50 chance. If it doesn't work, I'm sure they'll get it into 1.54b4 or 1.54final very soon.

  • You get the beta firmwares from their support forum. Guests cannot see the beta forum, so you will have to register.

  • Yea, how the CRAP do you get past the freaking ship!? I've broken every barrel, opened every closet (hey, this is an RPG. You're SUPPOSED to rummage through people's belongings! lol), and talked to every single person on the ship three times! I guess I can go to Gamestop for help, but I just felt like ranting. Seriously, does anyone know?

    Edit: I think that it might be a glitch because after you speak to the captain and exit the room the boat is supposed to dock or something.

  • DS Expert, It's supposedly an Anti-Piracy measure? If you can, Get (E). It should have a fix. I'm not sure if (U) does yet. Google could probably get you help fast if you haven't tried it yet.

  • This is a really great game. for the pacth, just update your cheat file. I updated mine and it saved me from the hazzle of manually putting in the codes.

  • I got the CycloDS 1.54B3 patch and that took care of it. I previously tried using the AR Cheat code but the game was TOTALLY jacked up. I fell through the ground and then there were people all over that when I talked to them they were saying Error and such...was mega weird.



    Just get a CycloDS and you're set..glad I didn't purchase anything else. I have not had to patch or use a cheat on anything yet.

  • If you've played one DQ, you've played them all. This may have nicer graphics and a different storyline from others in the series, but there has never been any innovation in this series since the first game.

  • You need a bypass patch or code (code is via action replay for things like cheat.dat's) to play the game on most flashcarts dandremil69, just search around the forum for more info, okay? I hope I helped

  • What do I do to apply the patch? The file I downloaded has the following files included in the RAR:

    xdelta.exe

    xpa-dqvu.bat

    xpa-dqvu.fix

    I open the EXE file but it just flashes open in a black screen then closes. Did that apply the patch? Can anyone help?

  • I have an M3 Real, and the first time I load a DQV rom, it freezes my DS. And the second time I run it, it freezes while creating my save game. I have tried using different save slots, and different names, but to no avail. I have tried every rom I can find, except Japanese.. and I've loaded the cheat for the fix, even though I can't even get to that point!

    Does anyone have any solutions? Or a save game, preferrably in the very beginning..

    I have an R4 so I will explain this step by step for those who requires it:

    1. Update your R4 firmware to version 1.18 (latest firmware)

    2. Update the Cheat.Dat file (can be found here: http://cheats.gbatemp.net/)

    3. Before choosing to play DQV you will be a selction for "Cheat(Y)" on your R4. Tap the "Cheat(Y) icon and you will be in a new screen.

    4. This part is very important: At the very top of the top screen you will see a check box for "Backup Enabler/Game Fix Code". Check the box off (it should be green if checked off correctly)

    5. Make sure that on the bottom you see two boxes that reads "Game DISABLE" and "Cheat DISABLE". If they say otherwise then just tap them to get it to read the way I have them.

    6. Tap "Save & exit"

    7. Start game and enjoy

    I have an R4 so I will explain this step by step for those who requires it:

  • OK, so I have R4 and the firmware is 1.18.

    I've updated my CHEAT.DAT to the new one phatlaosboi suggested.

    I have downloaded the patched version of the game and put it on my card. So what do I do to get the menu that asks if I want to use a cheat code?

    When I click the game to play it just asks if I want to create a save file, but there is no mention of a cheat menu. What the heck am I doing wrong?

  • Calbretto, don't click on the game first before you play it. Before you even choose to start the game you should stand idle on it and at the very bottom of the screen you should see a tab that reads "Cheat(Y)"

    I am here to help. It took me three days to get this thing to work and I felt the need to help those that are struggling to get this game to work. I am currently 4 hours into the game and all I can say is "Damn, all that research was worth the effort". I did go out and buy the game but I left it shrinkwrapped for collection purpose. So in conclusion, please support this game by buying it. Keep it as a collection for all that matters.

  • Works great on a DSTT with cheat code. Dragon Warrior/Dragon Quest is my favorite game series of all time. I played all the games (except DQ5 and 6 never released in North America) and I have played a long time with this game, not finished yet, but the storyline is the best of the series. GREAT GREAT GREAT GAME!!! I bought it, it really worth 40$.

  • So far working fine and dandy on my CycloDS, just had to patch the firmware to version 1.54.

    So far its fun, (I'm not that far in... 15 minutes maybe) looking forward to playing it so more before I go out and buy it.

  • The batch file included with this needs some simple editing to make it work ....

    replace the first line with this (or just add double quotes to the start and finish of the two file names)

  • For those R4 users who already have downloaded the latest USRCHEAT.DAT, for u to see the cheat(Y) button on the game selection, make sure you put the USRCHEAT.DAT to a folder and name it " \_system\_ " and put it to the root directory of your SD.

  • This is such a good game! I kind of played the original, in fact, I've played almost every Dragon Quest/Warrior game but this one by far is my favorite. GIVE IT A GO! :D

  • I couldn't wait any longer so I went ahead and downloaded the game. There is a patch included, but I didn't use it for my AK2. The game is working just fine and made it past the ship.

    Now to talk about the game itself... well the music is beautiful, smashing barrels is fun, and I think the monster animations are great. I'm so tired of a stactic picture that "flashes" when you hit it. The story is also very interesting. I haven't gotten very far, but the map looks pretty big. The graphics are pretty awesome as well. the ground doesn't have the same patterns, and it's very well blended.

    You should try this game out if you're a fan of DQ or just looking for a RPG to play.

    download the USRCHEAT.DAT.zip Link

    extract it, and rename USRCHEAT.DAT to CHEAT.DAT, and replace the file of the same name in your System directory, found in the root directory of your card.
    When you run the DS, a CHEAT(Y) will show under the game. Just enable cheats, and tap on remove anti piracy block.
    IT WORKED FOR ME.

    infact while you are on the ship rite after the opening cutscene when i talk to the ships captain nothing happens
    i even talked to everyone else first and still no cutscene

  • all u have to do to get off the ship at the start is talk to the captain and both the guys down the stairs near the treaure chests that are locked after that go back to the deck and it should advance immediately

  • This game runs fine without patches if you just use an emulator rather than a card. There are no bugs except the world map being slow.
