  • Is it just me, or do square enix make the best games?

I mean, Dragon Quest series, this, Final Fantasy, GO SQUARE ENIX

Gameplay on this looks awesome ^^

  • This game is a must get for gamers.

  • Is this game worth downloading .... Whats its about.... what type of game ?

  • @Crazyninjaguy

Me too, but I don't like their English dubs much, thats the only downfall if you ask me.

  • Great Game....My previous comments were deleted. Must download. Its made by Square Enix :D

  • This game is like final fantasy tactics I think, it looks like it, I watched the trailer at ign.com

  • Any signs of Anti-Piracy? As seen in previous Square-Enix games.

  • You should do some research by yourself. Just google it or wiki it. Hell, even go on a game website. Anyways, this game looks great, but I heard it was supposed to be very challenging.

  • No need for firmware update and there is no Anti-Piracy on this game.

  • This is very good game...it is worth downloading :)

  • Why is it a good game Lobanja? Guys stop assuming everyone will have the same taste in games as you and actually tell us why it's a good game.

  • I like this game because of its impeccable ability to disillusionize the common myths that are portrayed in most of today's games.

  • I like this game because of its impeccable ability to disillusionize the common myths that are portrayed in most of today's games.

    Lmao.

First of all i thought this game would be good because it was made by Square Enix. The game play is fun and interesting. Graphics are also good. The type is Turn based which i like very much.

  • Basically, Valkyrie Profile here has always been known for being mature. The story and dialog was always flowery, dark, and well-written, and now we have one that's an SRPG, and that's worth being excited about. Sure, we have FFTA2 and Disgaea DS, but the former is rediculously kid-friendly and the latter doesn't take itself seriously (not that we don't love that quality about it).

  • I sampled the japanese version of this game. Despite the fact i can't speak any, it was really good. I haven't played any of the other games in the series so i will probably go back and play them.

  • Do you have to be familiar with the previous Valkyrie Profile games to enjoy this one?

  • The Valkyrie Profile games have always struck me as having quite deep and dark stories. This game should hopefully be no different. But, I guess there's only one way for me to find out.

I'll try and add more as I progress.

  • I liked this game because of the Combo System. When you engage in battle all of the local team mates join the fray!

  • I started playing the jap version like a week ago cause i coulndnt wait for it to come out im psyched its finally here

  • The story lines appear to have nothing to do with each other, I checked the original PS1 release story line on wiki and the main characters are different as well as the begining of the plot. I didn't read further because I do want to experience that game eventually.

This game is a strategy RPG. Similar to Final Fantasy Tactics with its own battle system that includes many differences, such as nearby allies joining you on attacks and completing special moves.

If you enjoy Turn Based Tactical Role Playing Games, you'll certainly enjoy this one. The opening cinimatics are amazing and the series is well established.

  • Thanks! been waiting forever for this one... oh btw, working on R4 right off the bat, does'nt seem to have anti-piracy at all

  • OMGUH THIS GAME LOOKS AWESOME 4TW 8D

the graphics look really good and it's square enix so it MUST be good. O:

  • Does it have anti piracy on it? answer please

  • No, as posted in a much earlier post...

  • How is it? I didn't quite like blue dragon plus seeing as this is a SRPG, how does it play out?

  • ZOMG I think I just pizzled myself! Thanx a mill Romulations! I wuwz uz!!111

Okay, in all joking aside, this game looks pretty interesting. I've never played any of the Valkyrie Profile games before but here's a trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKjIYpzQIdo&eur

Decide for yourself what you think.

  • I actually played it and thought it was kinda bad. Two hours into the game and still no way to have a permanent place to train oneself. I guess you could call it being hardcore, but I thought it was simply too HARD.

  • I like this game, though the first two Valkyrie Profile games were better in my opinion, because of the exploration elements and not being so restrictive... Well, VP2 was linear, so perhaps it was restrictive in that aspect, but the first one pretty much lets you do whatever. What I mean is that this game does not let you grind. The story keeps advancing. In the first VP there are ways to train without worrying about periods, and in VP2 you basically have all the time of the world to do stuff.

This one's a sidestory, which could be good if you're new to the series. The other two had their plots tied in an unexpected way (but how they're tied is a spoiler, I won't get into details).

This game has the darkest story out of the three VP games, in my opinion, though they all have a theme in common... Death, sacrifice and lust for power. But this one gets my praises because the main character in a game isn't always a misguided guy doing a lot of evil for his own selfish purposes (no spoilers here, it's the basic premise, you get to notice that from the start). The story has many branches you can follow depending of your actions (in other words, depending on how many people you decide to betray and kill), and in each branch you'll get different characters. Of course, there is more than one ending due to this. Getting the best one isn't easy at first. Getting all endings also lets you play an optional game mode, which pretty much is an endless game. It's worth it, you get secret characters and is fun.

  • I love this game! Thanx!!

I also hope square enix will someday translate Sigma Harmonics =P

  • Awesome!!!!! ds games just keep getting AWESOME!!!! nice romulation!!!! this will be spread... ^\_^

  • Mmm... I love this game, I really do.... but......... the sad part is that they didn't voice the entire game like the Japanese version. Try it out and you'll see that 90\% of the game is voiced in the Japanese version, but we get the shaft. Not only do they not get voice actors and voice it like the Japanese, but they don't even let us turn on the Japanese voices if we want to hear them.

I can understand Japanese well enough to get the 80\% of the story when playing the Japanese version, but I'm not that great at reading it, so I have a problem with the items and menus... ah, but I really want the voices. It really is part of why I loved the Valkyrie Profile series so much is that even the original on the Playstation had voices...

Ah well, guess complaining won't really help to much.......

That is unless.... Would anyone know how to take the sound from the Japanese rom of the game and place it into the US rom? That way there would be voices, but still leave all the text in English.

  • Blackkat101:

there's a [U] undub of this game that contains the japanese voices. i've yet to download it though because i, for the most part, only download the original ROMs for the sake of archiving.

if you look hard enough, you can get the undub though.

  • Looks and plays alot like FFTA2 (duh) but personally I think A2 is way better.

  • Mthe1337one:

It's too bad there is no undub one. I've been looking. Most have found how to replace the battle voices with the japanese ones, but that doesn't solve the problem with the voices in the events. Because that file was compleatly left out of the english version, the simple matter of swaping out the english file for the japanese one fails. The english rom of the game does not have the pointers to trigger the voices that the japanese one has and just adding in a file that was originally not there will just cause the rom to compleatly not work... It seems that a bit of programming might help, but someone more skilled than myself should seeing as I have moot.

It would be nice if there was an undub version of this to play, but sadly, I cannot find one. If you do, please let me know.

  • I've beaten the Japanese version. The game is fun and pretty challenging. Worth downloading IMO. I'm gonna check out what the English version is like.

  • I've played a bit of it and I'm disappointed. They removed over 90\% of the voice acting for the scenes and just have the in-battle voices. Other than that though, the game is still great. I still recommend it. I'll just stick with my Japanese version.

  • Actually, now that I think about it... Yah, it would be difficult to put in not only the voices but the pointers as well into the english version.

Well, actully, that you all knew, but (if anyone is paying attention to me) would it not be easier to place the english text for the story, items, etc, into the japanese version? Then all you'd have to do is take the text out of the US ver and put it in the JAP ver, that way leaving the voices, pointers and all else intact...

Well, that's just a thought. I still have no idea myself on how to do that, but maybe someone will be able to take something from that....

  • Hey, just tried the game and I couldn't get it running cuz it says it cant load the save data. Anyone who got it to run on a R4 tell me how you got it to work plz. Thx.

  • Very good game if you like rpg's and long, complicated storylines!

    I'm loving it.

  • Has The Tactical Touch With The Valkyrie Profile Battle System To It With The Specials & More

  • The language used was pretty hard esspecially for non-english speaker like me.

  • Heyss this games is the so many awesome points to the maxiums, i recommen this game to any serbian willing to do the playings!!!!

  • Guys be careful. Been playing through it, and it got to a point where my save data seemed corrupted. The game said that the it had saved, but it didn't, and i can't seem to get it to save again. If anyone has got a clue to how i can fix this without losing my previous save game, let me know!

  • Good but not as good as ffta2

  • Someone give the FF fan new lenses to replace his rose tinted ones.

  • Decent game. if it weren't for the "phoenix down" items, it would be impossibly hard since i seem to lose a unit from a gang massacre every other battle. the characters seem pretty interesting, but i haven't gotten far enough to get attached to any of them yet. hopefully it's not like ff3 or 4 where i couldn't really stand any of the characters...

  • I get frustrated with the game a lot, maybe it's because I want to get through the game without having to use the plume...man it's hard......and I mean HARD!!!

  • It's definitely a decent game. First of all, being localized with such good dialogues, sometimes a bit confusing because I'm not a native English speaker. But it's great, it's like reading a romance novel or something. And the battle being HARD and no difficulty option (unlike previous VPs), playing this game is like facing endless challenges over and over. Just simple matters like positioning or using different equipments could decide whether you're going to survive or not.

Sometimes I feel like the game is forcing (or tempting) me to invoke the Destiny Plume (especially on Gwendal, oh how I want to acquire that skill soooo badly!!), but I 'd like to clear my first run on this game without invoking the Destiny plume AT ALL and see what will happen XD

  • Oh and IMO this game definitely DOESN'T LOOK LIKE FINAL FANTASY TACTICS AT ALL. The only resemblance is they both use grids, that's all. The graphics reminded me of Riviera, and the gameplay feels a lot like Yggdra Union, with Valkyrie Profile elements added. STING is a great game developer. So is Tri-Ace. It's awesome.

  • Well.. Square-Enix isn't like their old days... they are in slump or something like that. but this series, Valkyrie Profile, has a long and good history. Last time i played this series was on PSP. anyway i can tell this is A MUST PLAY for NDS owners. why? cuz it's got a very interesting story. well i'm not sure this one has the same TALENT but well, other series were just fantastic. Square-Enix is screwing up on graphic stuff these days(Last Lament was just freaking horrible) but they still got some gooooood stories. graphic is... well... it's on NDS. what do you want? the gameplay is kinda simple but enough complex in strategy and tactics. you will have so many things to do. Enjoy~ [and sorry for my BAD english. *sob*]

  • Hehehe... sacrificing your teammates is fun.... but then you get totally screwed up

  • I must agree that VP is a great game. The combos, the team works, the sacrifices.... It also train your brain too!!

  • Very difficult game

  • Can't wait for the download to get done on this one, i was reading earlier that you can sacrifice allies to the "plume" to make charachters stronger, kinda feels like a dark version of fire emblem. Hope it's as good as 2 was, if the lack of voice acting bothers me enough, i'll go hunt down the dubbed version, but it shouldn't I do play fire emblem after all :)

  • This game is great! It's a lot better (for me anyways) than another certain strategy by Squeenix on the nds ...

VP actually made me think about how to combo right and stuff, not to mention an awesome storyline

  • Very good game, the graphics are pretty good,game-play is cool, square enix is always in the top.

  • Love this game so much, new game + =D

This game is so fun and replay value is a must

  • Good game but the storyline, it kills me just to choose the path and sacrifice someone when I'm in a tight situation gives me the headache just to see a high level useful character gone.....forever

and oh all the characters the way they speak it's cool.

  • How do you saved in this game? keep getting corrupted data deleted

  • I'm getting corrupted data save too after playing awhile. AT beggining of the chapter the save works fine but later the game save is corrupt.

  • Has anyone noticed that Xenophobia always posts the best games?

    i give this game a 9/10

  • I'm glad i've finished first the A ending though they say it is the hardest

on your play first play through.. Though some of the missions kind of frustrated me..

I'm on my second play through the B ending or Normal ending. FOR CORRUPTED DATA'S I'VE ALSO

EXPERIENCED THAT YOU CAN FIX IT BY CHANGING THE MEDIA to EEP64 and in the gameboy media EEP8 or something

    works with me fine.

    *Spoiler*

Seraphic Gate is accessible after finishing it experiencing the A, B, and C ending

with A being the toughest and C the easiest.

  • @aranwarez

Is it the problem that when you save after checking it again it says that the data is corrupt?

Well if that is. here is how it is solve. Make sure you're using no$gba because it is the one

i am using. then go to emulation setup. the locate the Nds cartridge media change it to EEP64K bytes

you can see it there if not.. well try downloading it because my emulator has it already so i dont know

where to download it if it is not there.. Then on top of that is that GBA cartridge you can see that clearly

on top of the NDS cartridge then change the GBA cartdridge to EEP8k bytes then click OK then Dont forget to

"Save options" which is located in the bottom of the emulation setup... Then if you do that.. that should work

now because that is the method i use if not try refering to these site http://forums.emulator-zone.com/showthread.php?t=14199 see the post of thanamaless he discussed how to save in an NDS games... good

    luck. Hope it helps

  • This game was before the VP ps1 game because loki appears and its nothing to do with the story of the both first installments..This game is great! i more likedly prefer this game rather that FF.

  • This game is beautiful!!! the fighting style is enjoyable and i don't really care about the story. AWESOME GAME!!

  • Hahaha I have no "comrades". They are all just more sacrifices to the plume!

    Great game, neat system.

  • FYI - Square Enix did not make this game, they published it. tri-Ace develops the Valkyrie Profile series.

  • I usually don't like rpg games for the ds, but i thought this game was AWESOME!!

i completely recommend it! the battles are pretty limited, but each one is challenging in its own way.

but...ahh..the final boss is killing me. haha.

  • The game's battle system is extremely originally and is a great game for people who are tired of playing the same SRPGs. It mostly revolved around being tactical, and not much grinding is included. I'd prefer it over Disgaea DS.

  • This game has anti-piracy! Is there any way to get around it? I always get stuck at a certain point in the game, after the fight where the two twins join you. It's in Chapter 2, the second battle. It's if you side with the mercenaries and encounter your old captain.

  • Whoa very good i can play it on my no$gba very fast....

  • It looks like crap compared to the PSP version, but my PSP broke, so MAYBE I'll try it out...

That is, assuming I have enough space left for it after searching out more great ROMs! ;P

  • Tis is awesome

  • This is one of the best games for the DS!!!
Download now!!! download now you fool!!!

  • This game uses combos and such to attack with, and that just makes the game way more interesting.

  • this is great! good game! but i still like the ps valkyrie profile version, but its a must-get-game-and-put-to-your-gamefolder kind of game!

  • Great game, but i have to warn you, sacrifice more than one ally during a chapter and Freya comes and kills you and there is nothing you can do about it,from then you have to start a NEW game since you cant kill here, that would be my only quarrel with this great game

    GRATZ SQUNIX

  • Square enix games sucks i prefered atlus shin megami tensei seies they have a very nice battle style and also the stories are very dark and got a lot if interesting things

  • I love how it's a unique battle system that combines both action and turn based. Plus, its satisfying when playing through the game the second time and you keep your old equipment allowing your people to shred your opponent to pieces =D

  • BEST GAME EVER. story line good, graphics 2 me r alrite but i dont mind, turn based but you o your own fighting which is awesomee, is absolutly an awesome game a must download:D

  • This game is made by Square Enix. That means......
    IT'S AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The combat system is pretty good, and the storyline has that Square Enix feel
A must downlaod for all gamers.

P.S> I actually bought the game to support Squre Enix

  • Great game so far! The premise and battle tactics are delightfully evil. Give an ally incredible power, only for them to die at the end of battle. I'd say its a role playing/tactics game with a little bit of interaction during attack animation.
