Man i've been refreshing this all morning. Looks awesome!
Lux-Pain is set in the historical Kisaragi City, a town plagued by
mysteries from small mishaps to murders - with no logical explanation
as to why these events occur. It seems "Silent", a worm born through
hate and sadness, has infected humans and forced them to commit
atrocious crimes. The heroes parents, Atsuki, are the victim of such
crimes. To avenge his parents, Atsuki goes through a dangerous
operation to acquire Lux-Pain in his left arm, a power so strong that
it turns his right eye golden when using it to seek and destroy Silent
for good.

Sounds like a good one to me, i'm downloading right now.
For people wondering what lux is:
Lux is a word for light, so the game is basically: Light-Pain :D
I hope this is sick
Played the Japanese version and all I can tell you is that it's really touch screen based. I might play this just because. But when you finish the game, it gets really boring. Not worth the buy, but worth the download.
IS this game good? So many games this month!
Holy F***ing ass crackers! (I can say ass on the internet right?) This is my first comment, and well worth it! I've been waiting 3 days for this rom to come out! Finally! ;3 Downloading now! DL IT PEOPLE!
This game definitely wasnt what I thought it was.... its alright, but not exactly what I personally would call a great game.
Ign gave it a 4.2 or something...it looks really interesting, but i guess its not very good...
It's not going to get very good reviews because it's a Visual Novel, not really a true game.
Ya, the trailer overhyped me, and here i was thinking omg, this is gona be awesome, so far 1 hour into the game, just lots of speech, the game consist of scartching ur ds screen looking for will o wisp thingie which u rub out and so far, this seems to be it.
I read a pretty scathing review of it already, after thinking I would definitely at least download it.
Dont care about gameplay, is the story good at least?
Wow, it's.. a pretty badly made game. I was highly anticipating it, but they did a horrible job on it as it seems. There's a ton of grammatical errors (which is important as it's a Visual NOVEL) and extremely clunky sentences. Also, what's with the dialogue never matching the spoken words?
I feel something's up with the translation, I don't know what. But it wasn't what I expected it to be and the bad English really detracts from the experience.
I don't suppose this could match the greatness in visual novels like Time Hollow was?
Downloading it right now
I agree that this is not all that good (stop telling me to "shut up and just download the game, it's free", I'm writing a comment, see?)
This is far more inferior than Time Hollow, and what I didn't expect is the gameplay where you scratch your screen to reveal and remove Shinens (reminds me of the Ghost Hunting mini-game in Super Mario 64 DS)
Expect to see a lot of emo phrases as well. Lol.
Good game?
Why would you ask "good game?" directly under a whole bunch of comments about how good or bad the game is, including reviews?? Good grief!!
I'm just wondering if anyone has come across piracy issues for this one on R4? ta.
Ok this game is not worth getting, a large disappointment i think for its publicity, all i can see is that i need to get some bubble thingys and there's no introduction what soever.
It seems like some half-assed fan translator group translated it in text and some professional voice actors voiced it with the real script.
Sure, both the voice and text basically mean the same thing, but come on.
And I agree with the above statement, this game is a visual novel, don't expect loads of great gameplay.
Buchichu > None. Using original R4 v.17
Gameless > Moron.
Its slightly good and what makes it bad is the voice acting isnt the same as the shown dialog text... what a shame... but looks good though...!!!
Ok, kim\_gwapa\_kim, you're completey right, who did the script for it? did they have two of them or something?
Reminds me of timehollow
The translation is pretty loopy, and the not matching thing is a bit distracting (and weird) but dispite its flaws I'm actually enjoying it so far. It's no Time Hollow to be sure, but still kind of engaging, I think. Some of the imagery in it is cool, too - parts of it remind me of the anime Serial Experiments Lain. 6/10 (from what I've seen only up to Ch. 2)
The saving points are after each episode thus you can lose tons of game progress if you screw up.
I'm really pissed off. I didn't even do anything and a GAME OVER pops up.
Apparently it's like... the worst DS game ever.
I don't know why you wapanese fanboys love it so much. -\_-
Shofah: you can save at ANY time by hitting start > save. There are no save points, the game just promps you to save after each chapter.
It's pretty good, except for the grammar... it's horrible.. =\_=
Story's not bad. Gameplay gets boring after awhile, but it's ok. I love the ending scenes.
It's not really the grammar thats the problem here...... it that they have the tekst for the japanese version of the game but uses thire own english voices thats not the same as the tekst. Exampel: Japan = America..... i was totaly schocked when i saw that they say america insted of japan when the tekst said that =/ and they mention some city in japan but the voices uses american citys insted =/ it's really is a epic fail.... i like the game but can't take it seriosly when tekst and voice is's the same =/
I'm wondering if all the people jumping all over this game have even made it past episode 3? Or even played this game rather than accepting what a couple review sites say? Because I'm finding this game pretty engaging and, although the voice over doesn't match the text, I still find it less distracting than the CRAP dubbing on Suikoden Tierkreis.
Seriously, people, give it a try - or don't - but don't base your opinion on the frequently moronic reviews from places like ign. And post YOUR actual opinions after playing, not stuff like "apparently this is the WORST DS game ever..." that's a lot of BS. "Apparently" would indicate you haven't even played it and WORST DS game? seriously? I can give anyone thinking that a nice BIG list of games to try and compare for that title.
Well i think this game is great. but the translation tends to anoy me alot.......but i just found the undub version of this game! problem solved! *dances* this game is really nice....not as nice as Time Hollow, but cool but i repeat! don't get the english version....try find the undub version (jap voices and eng tekst) since the tekst is the translation of the jap version and the eng voices are some totaly difrent! =D
I am gonna wait for the European release. Ignition Entertainment has horrid translations when compared with Rising Star.
Ugh. I have to replay again ... got the normal ending with my first try. I think I know where I messed up >\_>
Listen people,
im not good at typing english but ill try
at first the gameplay is not so great, its only scratching a worm and reading story's
but if you play further in the game the gameplay becomes more fun you have to kill bugs and teh story becomes more interesting its a very long story with at lots of chapters and the gameplay becomes harder and more difficult.
so dont be disapointed play further in the game.
Deboarah677: I didn't even notice you were foreign. Lol. You typing is fine.
Anyway, it seems like the game isn't worth the download. I heard that this game was supposed to be good.
You can save at any time dude just push start. Durr -\_- Lmfao fio
Its pretty confusing but its pretty kool so i liked it. It would have been better if it had the story from wen he was a kid and his family died coz i didnt quite get it
A nice game plagued by minor spelling errors. I don't know who or what they had translate this game, but for a visual novel type of game, this does kind of put it down a bit in my book.
However, if you can look past all that it's really quie fun!
In my eyes still a must for those who love visual novels :)
This game made me wet myself
This is crap compare to Time Hallow totally disappointed
I really like this game actually. Its a bit confusing. But its kind of addicting lol. I like the music, and like the creepy music gave me a frightened feeling about going to sleep lol. But it's all good.
lol kind of like a simulation date thing on the side too for some reason xD jk.
I like Rui ^\_^
Oh, another thing:
There are times when the characters have voices and then they don't. I wish they spoke all the time (except Natsuki lol). and i wish they put voices for all the characters. i would be like an anime series in a box....or..flat screen thing lol.
Also, if you're a grammar/spelling freak, watch out. xD there are so grammar and spelling mistakes that made me feel confused. For example, Mako is a girl. But for some reason sometimes they use "He" for her. It's only sometimes tho.
so give it a try, this game that is.
Please note:
The gameplay is not that good but the story is very awesome.
I expected samething like Time Hollow, but this is boring and boring and boring. Gameplay sucks that much, that I didn't even wanted to continue my game (I was in the middle of the firt chapter), which didn't happen to me in a long, long time. I just don't get this game.
Is there a link to see the trailer?
On the wii, the trailer is on the nintedo channel...
It cant be the same thing as time hollow. its not about time.
and you have to give the game a chance. sure, i was a bit confused in the first chapter. but i kept it going. Now i'm on the 20th chapter =D
Story is surprisingly excellent. Marred by a slapdash translator but still surprisingly deep and the characters AREN'T as cookiecutter as you think at first.
Gameplay still could've been jazzed up. More options with interacting with the other characters would've been nice.
HOWEVER, got a gripe. I just got the bad ending. I'm not sure if I have the save file that can let me NOT play through 14 hours worth of gameplay just to get the good ending because seriously that's just effed up. Earlier there's a part where they recommend you save before this one part of the game with a time limit. But they didn't do so here, and now I'm stuck and unable to really do anything cept replay the game.
As good as teh story is, I'm not going to play through 14 hours of it just to see if I can get the good ending. That's like rewatching any anime so you can watch the last episode (which is a very good analogy for this game, it's basically like an anime repackaged into a game).
I'll wait for the inevitable (hopefully) anime adaptation, and catch the ending from there XD
Looks like a Pheonix Wright type Game, very interesting and fun
As i said in my other comment on the (E) version - this game isn't worth downloading, it's rather boring. Might have a good story but absolutely boring game play.
It freezes for me on chapter 4, I think, (when you're searching for Arthur?) Is it just me or has this happened for other people?
Right it is a good game, i think, dunno whats so good but its good... but the text most of the times dont even make sense.
Mine is okay and I've just finished the game. Wonderful story with unexpected events, but the gameplay is kinda boring.... :p
I think the story is better than Time Hollow, because somehow I can guess the storyline while playing Time Hollow, but not this one. I both hate and love the story~~~ It's great. So, for people who have started to play this, don't stop, because the great part of the story started around the 2nd weeks...
And I usually ignored the text and prefer to listen to the voice. It's better to listen directly, and also their seiyuu aren't that bad~ ^\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_^
If you want to save, you can press enter, and then save. It's really easy!!!
Hope this can help...
I think the story was really good.
If u played until chapter 19, you can go furthur.
It ends in chapter 21.
Just wanna let you know
I think the ending is really good!!
Will try
It is really cool, I finished the game, but sad ending.....
This is so awsome i like this type of game cool
I think the average hack 'n slash gamer will find Lux-Pain boring, and uninteresting because of the gameplay(let's face it, it's a visual novel), but the strong point of the game is the story. Albeit ridden with typos, and grammatical errors throughout. If you look past that, there is a very riveting story and characters. Another reason some may be put off from the story is the lack of introduction into the gameplay and story. A store bought copy of the game comes with a 40+ page manual that explains most of the premise of the game, and how to play it. Unfortunately, pirated copies do not, so we must do without. Regardless, the game has a large and very informative in-game database which you can browse through if your lost.
So before trying a game, especially a game from Japan, don't believe the biased opinion of American reviewers on IGN. I can understand criticizing the horrible translation & errors, unclear localization, and things of that matter, but the game itself isn't that bad if you don't expect you standard text-based adventure. It's a visual novel through and through, so enjoy it for what it is. Be open minded about the different genre's of games people may enjoy.
I really enjoyed Lux-Pain, and would recommend it. It has it's annoying bits, but definitely worth a try, and atleast play it up to Episode 9.
Lux Pain offers multiple endings to those who think that this is one giant novel on the DS...personally, I like the plot and multiple endings but really gets set off the repetitive game play sometimes. Luck and random chances are what you need to really up the relation with certain characters as the main character only has certain amount of tries at different locations...anyways..rambling too much
Game play is tolerable; plot is great; the English voice acting is if not bad, boring and game mechanics is still slightly bugged for the English version(simple he/she mix ups and awkward translations...)...personally, if you know Japanese, go play the Japanese version..I did(even though my Jap is only mediocre)
This game looks good im gunna dl it
I really like the game... but hell - I suck so bad at it that I can't get past the first day of school without destroying that chicks mind. Right now it's sitting in my rom-folder because I don't want to spend my time struggling with the spirits.
I just bought the game for $30.00! and now i find i can get it for free! DANG (well, kinda free)
worth the download
I like it. but i could'nt get to the end. have to start all over again i suppossed. Worth the download. it's a good DS novel thingy.
This game is a good example of a bad localization.. what a strange translation. Beyond that, the gameplay is fine. It's a text adventure.
This game is surely fun but it seems like it's been talking too much.
If the speech get cut down it might be a real great game.
i cant play lux pain!!!
good story, but, after a while, the game became boring.just scratch your ds, look to emo phrases, and read lots of text......
"The internet was cancelled one year ago"
the typos are for comedical purposes. i'm serious. they made me laugh so hard every now and then...
this game pretty good if your into just reading an intersing story line for hardcore gamer most likey hate on it but its a pretty desent game based on story
(ps i like the music too X3)
Ugh, at least the English is not as bad as most fan fiction I've read, but I guess saying that wouldn't be fair since it would be comparing Japanese-English translations to native English writing. Still...
In all honesty, this game would've done better as an anime. I was able to look past the fact that it's a visual novel (which would normally make it impossible for me to play) and the shoddy translation (which as someone else stated, was very comedic at times) and enjoy the story. One or two days into the game (in-game calendar)and I already want to delve through the entire story and find out what happens. The first time I saw the opening sequence I thought "Holy shit, this should be an anime!" And it's true- I'm just surprised none of the developers said "Hey, with a storyline like this, we could make an awesome anime!" In fact, the game has enough story for (in my opinion) at least two seasons, and that's just the first arc, as they could always come up with more if it lasted longer. I guess what I'm trying to say here is: if you like compelling stories, and you can overlook minor mistakes (let's face it, the translation only takes away from the story if you let it), then you should totally play this game. And yeah, I hope someone has the sense to finally make an anime from this one day.
As a side note, the story writer(s) should at least start working on a manga. The story totally deserves an anime, but I'll settle for a manga if they make one.
Foooo
