  • This was definitely one of my favorite DS RPGs because its just beautiful and fun, beat the European version long before this one came out. Play either one and love it.

  • European version has 5 or so languages in it. This, I'm assuming, has only English. There may be other differences.

  • This game is huge - looks amazing though. So far I'm not too keen on the voices, it sounds like a crummy fandub to me, especially the main character.

    Anyone having any piracy issues so far?

  • No piracy issues (I run it on an R4DS with YSMenu) There's a way to patch the origional voices back inside, I'm gonna try that and I'll upload it if I succeed.

  • Seriously people, don't complain about the size of a video game. Play it, love it, beat it, delete it, and move along to the next game =p

    Its a great game, if you need to delete a few lesser games that so be it, you can't play more than one game at a time.

    I'd have a psp if konami got they're head out there ass and realease suikoden I and II in an english version.

  • At a glance, I thought this was called "Sudoku Tetris". I've GOT to clean my glasses off. That said, this looks pretty nice, might have to give it a look. I'd love to play an RPG with some voice instead of all the text for a change.

  • This is one of the few RPGS that i actually tried to finish.

    the only problem would be the voices (main protagonist talks WAY too fast) but thats a small issue.

  • Someone mentioned the game freezing up...has anyone else experienced this and, if so, with which card? I'm using R4 and would hate to waste my time only to have the game die on me, I'd rather just buy it since so far I'm really enjoying it.

    You don't understand do you? We all have a copy of the game and are just downloading a backup. Me? I usually get buy the EU and the US version, you know. Just in case so I have a "double positve" copy. :)

  • Its big because theres a lot of cut scenes that include video. Pretty good quality.

  • I downloaded this yesterday, in a position where i'd barely even heard of Suikoden and just considering giving it a go as I was in that kind of mood.



    Today, I was up till 3(2 without time change GMT) in the morning just playing it. I went about 4 hours straight on it. The game is absolutely goddamn amazing and I absolutley LOVE it. I recommend this to anyone looking for a nice long game or any RPG. I really love the way that it's presented in battle like a real time game but is really turn based.



    And Yeah, the voice acting is pretty fast (i'm alright because I always speak to people who speak faster than that) and the main protaganist's voice is quite annoying at first. Then you just live with it because the game is so good.

  • Just finished the game 3 days ago and it's very nice compared with some rpg games.voices becomes normal and the fast speaking only happens at the start.the game is somewhat longer than than most rpg games which is something I like about it. it has a very nice story.one, I repeat,one of the best rpg game so far.sniff...sniff...really miss the game

  • @Necronesian: I have a DSTT too and so far have not had any problems with freezing. I am playing the European version though.

    The game is huge, not sure if it will keep me interested till the end. But it's ace anyway.

  • This game can have LongestStoryDS award.This game weights twice as GTA and while i complete story in GTA with 8hours i just at start in this game by 8hours.

  • The file size is 256 for some it might be huge but again there are a LOT of movies. Very interesting story but sometimes a pain when in a new area and u want to find all the items and savepoint is nowhere to be found. On M3 Real and doesn't freeze up anywhere. I got it and played almost 7 hours straight!!! i think thats a record!

  • Yeah,this game rock. it's like most average rpgs were ur out to save the world. the main characters actions are latered reflected in the game. The story line great, the battle styles amazing and so are the attcks. A real true rpg, 10/10 isay get this game if ur an rpg fan u'll love it.

  • I love this game, but it is not without a single major flaw (and a few minor flaws that I am too in love to notice.) The Dubbing is horrendous, and since I could not endure it long enough to see if it gets better like some people say, I instead opted for the undub version found through a torrent. English/French/Other EUR languages with the superior japanese audio, including the superior japanese title song.

    Keep in mind that I am no otaku or japanophile, it's just that the English dubbing really is bad (at least at the beginning, don't know about later) and since there is no option to turn off the voice acting, I went for the language I don't understand in hopes it would be easier to ignore, and it's working.

    In other news, the world map is one of those "pick the location from the map" kinds of things, not a true overworld like in FF and DQ, but I tolerate it in this game because of the extra work they put into the graphics. Actual hand painted backgrounds FTW! Of course, the 3d models are sub-ps1 quality, but this is the DS, and they are at least recognizable. Also, the calendar system in the game would have been more difficult to pull off if they had used a day/night cycle, so it's fine the way it is.

    I have not gone that far into the story yet, but it's starting to look epic where I left off. So if the other reviews are true, this game is truly epic.

    In conclusion, buy it, but don't play the cart you buy, just use the undub rom unless you actually like the voices.

  • Suikoden Tierkreis is a good RPG game. While it is similar to most RPGs out there, what I found really interesting is the Trade Goods system, which I believe sets it apart from the rest. Though only a minor game mechanic, it pretty much allows you to earn large amounts of money simply by going through the towns - which you will do anyways. The game itself is BIG on memory, and a bit costly in terms of points, but it is worth it.

    Just been playing this game last night. It is absolutely awesome. It is an RPG game similar to that of the final fantasy games as far as random encounters and battles and stuff are performed. Really a game designed for hard-core RPG players but not TOO tricky for newer gamers to pick up and play without difficulty.

    Would really recommend giving this game a try.

  • Well this is a ok game. I mean it's kind of like Final Fantasy but with differnet story. It also got a good movie and voice acting. If you like Final Fantasy, you like this game. 8/10

  • I've decided to move on and play another game before playing this one. I think there may be some better games to use my time with first.

    The game is beautiful, there isn't any slow-down during fights and the story is great, but there are things I just don't like.



    1. There isn't a map for dungeons, and I get lost very easily, so I end up going the wrong way... a lot. This wouldn't be so bad if there wasn't a random attack every few steps.

    2. I don't like the save system. RPGs are known for having "save spots", but on the DS I usually have to quit playing suddenly, and cannot run to a save area. This causes a lot of problems for me.

    3. They seemed to get rid of the grinding that most rpgs have, which is a great thing, but at the same time it's a huge disadvantage. You usually cannot leave a town without fulfilling the mission, or storyline, which keeps you from going into a monster populated area to level or collect items. I like collecting items, because I like to sell them and buy the best equips for my people. The game is actually easy enough that you do not need to buy the best every time, but I just like doing that.

    4. The voice acting. Many people agree, and while you can switch it to the undubbed version, I think they should have worked harder on the English version.

    And so this is a great game. Good story, fun, but I haven't played a few other DS rpgs, and so I'll come back to this one. Cheers.

  • A great game! It's the first time I've played a Suikoden game and I am incredibly happy. The story is epic and well told, though I did wish for a more complex battle system. Everything else, I think is great! It reminded me of the first time I played the Zelda and Final Fantasy games. Overall excellent!



    I hope they release a sequel!

  • i downloaded this a while back so i cant remember the story because i resently played ff3 and i keep getting them mixed up. ill have to play it again tommorow but it is a really good game from what i rember. something about books and stars. its just what you would expect from a japenese RPG.

    It doesn't follow or continue the ORIGINAL series. I feel ashamed its even called a Suikoden. I've played all Suikodens except the Card Stories and by far this one seems to blow harder than my leafblower. -.-

    But serioulsy by itself its really good but adding "Suikoden" in front of it and expect us veterans to like is pure rubbish. Comeon there's not even an introduction to a new true rune or ties to the ORIGINAL just some "alternate" universe in the same world? Personally, I'm still waiting for Suikoden VI and I hope its no way near compared to something like this.

    I wonder if they're stalling for time until they can get that guy that lft during the middle of S3's development.

  • Gaaah when this game starts out they introduce about millions of different mysteries that are shed to light throughout the story.
    A great game with an engaging storyline that guarantees no grinding for a long time to kill a boss and advance the plot. Loooove it
