  • Finally, I actually played a lot the Japanese version (Mugen no Frontier), but now in English? Totally play it again.

    BTW, this game is not easy, only the beggining of the game is, later the bosses get really tough cancelling you combos and killing at least a party member per attack.

  • Wellrested; you either need to update your r4 version or you might need to use arm7. I dont know yet because i'm downloading the game right now. If it says save file could not be accsesed please reinsert your gamecart then you need to fix it with arm 7.

  • Yeah the voices are Japanese and I can't understand what they're saying... yayyyy.

    They didn't do it because it was "better" they did it because it was cheaper, and that's what pisses me off. The option is fine, but I want to be able to choose Japanese, not be forced into it.

  • @ aarjab: thanks for the advice; I have most current kernel for R4; I have been thinking about getting a new card (acekard 2, maybe?) that has fewer arm7 issues... though there's no error message, just a blank white screen.

  • I just wish they'd throw in subtitles for the Japanese comments at the start and end of combat. I understand a little from watching subbed Japanese TV and anime, and the vocal inflection usually gives some clues, but I still don't understand all the comments.

    and the original rapidshare link that came out maybe an hour before this game hit romulation, it was 81mb large and comprised of several rar files inside of another rar file...some people need to learn how to compress and send data :P

    I like the unique battle system even if it's turn-based. I can't stop playing it because every battle is different so training isn't a drag.

  • Wow, I have never actually EVER played any of the games in this series but damn is it hard! The combat system is good but to string fullpower combos you need to be used to it.

  • Haven't you tried tweaking the emulator like for example

    1. Increasing the CPU Speed and Frame Skip. (Try them all out)

    2. Disabling some of the OpenGL Plugin commands.

    To me, I'm currently at the setting of:

    >Increase Speed by 150\%

    >Skip 3 Frames

    >and also some AR codes that make you move faster

    >Around 50-80 FPS for my estimate.

    ***iDeaS emulator mostly depends on how powerful your PC is***

  • If you have the White Screen bug, just patch the Arm7 of the rom. ;)

    I have a R4 DS 1.18 Firmware patched to work on my M3 Simply hardware, and it worked for me. I used "Dragon Quest: Hand of the Heavenly Bride (E)(M5)(Bahamut) " as the donor rom.

  • Hmm wow lot's of comment... anyway, This Robot Taisen would be my favorite because of the similarity of its battle system with namcoxcapcom where you input commands to do combos rather than the *hohums* menu system. playing this on no$gba would result in a system crash due to an unsupported BIOS function / BUG. Using a dumped NDS BIOS might work but I haven't tested it yet. Ideas by Lino would be the second most logical choice and also.... Lotsa F cup chickies and KOSMOS?

  • What I've found out is that there's nothing wrong with the game itself graphics-wise. If you turn off the Sound in No$GBA, it'll work. Alas, I want to listen to the sound >.<

    I'm still testing, but as of now, if you use No$GBA, turn off the sound.

  • Omfg, I tried turning off sound with no$gba but like if I used a combo(pressing right on the control pad) the rom-image would eventually crash, also when I went through the door right after getting kaguya(using the lvl 1 card key or w/e) my screen turns black and it freezes there....

    Could anyone tell me what settings you use for no$gba to get this game running(without crashing or freezing?)

  • Use Desmume guys it works great but the sound lags but not too much. I just skip 4 frames on it and I'm good.

  • Well nevermind, I had to use No$Zoomer and then the game would work fine(without it, the robots would miss me everytime which seemed strange to me at first, but with the no$zoomer they actually hit me)

  • NGZoom was the only way I could play it with No$GBA. It crashed within the first couple battles with NDS2xGL2 (tho like leon, I was also taking 0 damage from foes), and for some reason ideas wouldn't even load. But NGZoom works great! I'm also using No$WTT to hopefully speed things up a bit.

  • @cfalcon - Using No$Zoomer fixed the intro, end battle character sequences and the enemy phase sequence hopefuly no other bugs would come up. NO$GBA with no$zoomer is working properly will update if any other errors will come up.

  • Had seen pictures of and read about the previous installments of Super Robot Wars so I was definitely curious. The FFT/Front Mission-like battles in some of those previous games looked pretty cool and who doesn't like Mecha? Well, those expectations were definitely not met. This basically looks like a GameBoy Color-era game featuring random encounters a la early 90's RPGs bar any sort of interesting storyline or characters. I could barely get through 30 minutes of this. Am I missing something important? Like, does the game improve eventually? Are people seriously diggin' this so much because of the boobage? I feel old...

  • Im about 4 hours in the game, and I definitely recommend it to any RPG fan :D.

    The Battle system is fantastic, the skill customizing doesn't make the gameplay repetitive, IMO. Grinding is not a chore anymore :).

    Oh, and dont forget about the boobs! haha. I love Kaguya!

  • I have to practice this battle system or something because I keep getting my butt kicked right at the beginning. I have to say though, I'm a little confused about all the hype, too...other than the big boob factor, this game seems pretty average to me.

    this particular game is the only NDS game which I'm using iDeaS though...

    Am using the no$gba emulator for almost all my NDS games...

  • UPDATE: For those of you looking for a zoom program that works with this game, NGZoom isn't perfect after all. It was working w/no problems at all for about 20 hours, but then it crashed during a battle sequence. Since No$GBA doesn't save games to your disk until you exit it, that crash wiped out hours of progress even tho I'd saved like 20 min beforehand.

    @tomitanoshii, is no$zoomer still working perfectly for you? I just downloaded 2.3.0.1 but losing those hours of work has me too discouraged to test it at the moment.

    @Zeuriel, the fan service is definitely a big draw, especially for those who are fans of other Super Robot Wars games and want to learn more about the universe and relatives (parents?) of previous games' protagonists. The battle system is engaging too, tho after about 20 hours, it's starting to feel a little old to me. While I agree that the overhead map and characters look like they're ripped from an ancient RPG, the character portraits are crisp and varied, and battle graphics are quite good too. So basically it's not superb but not bad either, and fans of previous Super Robot Wars' characters will probably enjoy it.

  • Thanks to this game and the inclusion of the Japanese voice acting during every single battle sequence I am now fluent in that language as long as I am punching a robot or chess themed statue while also rapidly shooting it with a shotgun at the same time. You'd be suprised how often this is useful during a daily transit on the Tokyo subway.

    Cheers to you guys, enjoy it. Hope the translation isn't too lame. I found the story thinning out towards the end but it was certainly worth hitting a 300 combo once.

  • I'm very surprised to see this game translated into English. Also surprising is the decision to keep the voices in Japanese, which definitely cuts down costs and time to localize this. It's a little too bad they didn't put the effort to give the possibility of English voices or subtitles, but them's the breaks.

    There's really very little of this that actually has to do with the main SRW series... No characters from SRW show up during the game, or else they play minimal roles. This game is definitely pure fanservice, giving us characters from Namco x Capcom and other franchises. However, no denying this game is fun in its own right.

  • Great game with lots of anime boobage beware not for kids O\_o. And also be prepaired to back track to a saved point to stock up on items. you will be stuck many times.

  • Death250: Emulators DO work with this game! I now have a playing time of a little over 10 hours, and I STILL have absolutely no issues with the game! Sorry to say, but whatever you're doing, it's the wrong way to do it.

  • This has prob been mentioned earlyer on the post but at this point in time i am slightly intoxicated and barely able to type properly. my prob is when i get to the first boss fight and after all the talking and wut not as soon as the screen shaters to go into the battle screen as soon as it goes black my game crashes/freezes and i am then forced to turn off my ds and then turn it back on. can any one help me please to fix this prob. i am not too familiar with the R4 chip as far as d/l the files needed to run on the R4. thank you to whom ever is able to help me.

  • Yeah this game doesn' seem to work so well with No$GBA cuz right after I get into a battle after I get the Lv 1 Key it Always Crashes.

  • This is an excellent game but it's really hard.

    Also, if it doesn't work for you, you may need a better flashcard. It works fine for me, though... if not, just get the original. You'll love this game... for more than one reason ;-)

  • This Game is cool everyone should give it a try .. the story is a lil bit confusin cuz they use 2 diff words for the same thing so sometimes u get lost but the gameplay its awesome the combos and the Spirit System and all that, it also have some comic frases in the dialogs its cool but its for mature people they show partial nudity xD but well it runs perfect on R4i-SDHC i havent had any problem so you should give it a try

  • This game is more like Valkyrie Profile since you tap each character's button to attack the enemies. Its more of a standard RPG with random battles, weapons, and armor.
    I think that's good though since the majority of RPGs on DS are SRPGs making this game feel less stale.
