And for the record, the PC version of this is epic and from the few minutes of playtime I got on this it's quite good once you get used to the interface.

  • This game.. is really great. military turn based strategy, lots of guns. CAN LIFE GET ANY BETTER

  • Thank you thank you thank you thank you!

Jagged Alliance 2 was a great game, with the features caiphus mentioned. It also had a great sense of humor, and it did have low quality 2d graphics, but it was so much fun, and the battle system worked really well. You could also get attachments for the weapons, such as silencers and night vision.

  • I can't believe first this game was on DS

and now it's really is Great

the First 5 minute can get you used to the UI, and next you play like a crazy monkey

    YEAH!!!!

  • Wasn't this game supposed to be released some time in august or september?

  • I loved the PC version, hopefully this stays up to standard.

  • Ahhh yes, Jagged Alliance on DS. I've been eagerly anticipating this one as I throughly enjoyed the PC version of it all those years ago. It brings back so many memories.

  • I'll try this, never heard of it ^^

  • Oh wow, Jag!!!! man, i still remember playing this up to the last sector--that was such a pain~!

great game, solid--really solid--game play mechanics, and the personality mix-and-match are awesome too. so much to do in this game!

  • Replacing Anno : Create a New World with this sexy game.

  • And here it is. *THE* best game that will ever come out on the DS. And hardly anyone will ever know about it. Oh well, at least I got it. :D

  • Never heard of this but the great reviews prompted me to try it out. Reading the description on wikipedia, the plot sounds a little like LOST, lol. And I looooves my LOST.

  • Uh...speaking of which, there's a mercenary named Hurl. E. who looks like Hurley and talks like a ditz like Hurley...coincidence?

  • It doesn't give you any instructions wtf?

  • Uhh...i can´t beat Mission 1....a searched for evrything,but i found nothing........

    Any Help?

  • I had a crazy dream after playing jagged alliance last night... I turned on my ds and there it was X-COM UFO Defense, does anyone think they're going to port the two x-coms as a game?? or maybe even three x-coms into a trilogy??

  • Oh and Vladunka, for the first timers who can't find there way around the first mission, move your whole team to one side of the screen and hit the "time button" and have them move to another part of the map.

  • Game wont work on dstt not sure if its just me

  • Battle sounds like Warhammer 40K

  • I tried playing the first level of this and was confused as hell.

    I mean like, seriously confused.

  • The game interests me but I have no clue what to do!!? I cant attack other sectors. Oh well

  • Im getting no text with DeSmuME - any suggestions?

  • I played it for an hour or so, and honestly find it pretty terrible. Might be good for some people, but its game style feels ridiculously outdated, which makes sense for a port for a game from 1994.

    Ah well.

  • I can't believe there is no tutorial at the beginning of this game. Sure it looks dated but still could be fun. As I have no clue as to what I'm doing though it is a complete waste of time.

I would be so happy if they did a port of the x-com games, they were ace

  • Yay! yay! yay! yay!... wait, I almost out of bandwidth! AWEEE!!!

    download next month...

  • Yeah, sorry fans, but I'm not liking this game at all. I can see it being a nestolgic game for some, but this is not for me.

  • Version US en français ? (flemme de tester x)

  • I couldn't wait for this to come out but to release a port and not refine it for the ds or incorporate updates from it's sequels to make it special makes this quite terrible.

    It's all so clunky

  • You guys whove played it are using this ROM or the retail game? Cant get it working emulated for me.

  • Honestly, this game is terrible, bad controls, no tutorial, I went into the game and didn't know what the hell to do. Took me 10 minutes to figure out i had to pick a team, then couldn't even past first mission. Sorry for the fans, but I'm nott liking this game at all. Annoying voices and bad graphics and bad controls and no tutorial = random ass game that sucks.

  • What is the point of this game??

  • Jagged Alliance is one of the greatest games ever made by man.

  • Nice, getting the racism and homophobia all in one sentence like that. your parents must be proud.

  • Hahahaha oh man. I can see the evolution of gamerman in these comments. Back in the day, PC games came with gigantic manuals that were hundreds of pages long. Even Street Fighter II for the PC had a large dictionary-sized manual. Whenever you booted it up, it asked you to get that manual, turn to a certain page, and type in a certain word just to get the game started. Such was ye olde day of PC gaming. There were no tutorials for anything. When you hit "New Game" on Doom and hear duh duh na duh duh na duh duh duuuhhhhh did you need instructions to walk forward, to the left, shoot the grunts, grab the armor, hit the switch? No!

Now that I think about it, I never noticed how seemlessly we moved into games having tutorials for almost everything. A game like this would have DEFINITELY benifited from a tutorial, but it's a port! I'm sure if you, I dunno, bought the game, you would have had the Cliff Note's edition to the PC game manual and after a few hours of studying, been able to play the game.

Me, being the intelligent lad I am, spent endless hours learning every single feature of the game in the detailed manual and strategy guide I purchased from the Salvation army. Nah, I just looked online.

The internets is a good place like that.

That said, once you learn how to play the damn thing the game is pretty damn fun. Lot of micro-managing to be had, and fun comments like "I'm in a warzone... WITHOUT BULLETS!"

  • Uhhh, question out of curiousity, am i the ONLY one having any problems dl'ing any of the games here? :O, says it cant find the URL posted for the games.

  • Oh man. I don't get how to move on in the game. Complicated!

  • This definitely brought back lots of great memories: JA, JA2, JA2:UB... my cousins and I would take turns playing for hours. We laughed hysterically when we played with the voice-over item names (on PC) and shortened "A Machete" before the "ee" sound at the end.

I was really, really glad to see this come to the DS, but honestly, I'm in the valley between the two mountains of commented opinions here. On one hand, there's the "JA is awesome, I love this game so much," while across the way is the "horrible interface, no tutorial, wtf am I doing?"

For me, I love the whole JA series. It broke my heart when Talonsoft sold out. I'm really glad to play it again. BUT, I do miss using a mouse. I hate that the only way to reload is to fire the gun, which wastes a bullet. Maybe I don't want to carry four packs of ammo; someone else needs a pack, but I only have one bullet left in my gun. Oh well, guess they're out of luck and I'm getting five shots before I reload, instead of six. This was after finding out how to shoot. And eff my life if it didn't take me forever to figure out how to cancel shooting, so my team members would stop whining about how I was trying to get them to shoot their buddy.

I love the game, and figuring out how to play it is totally worth it to me (EVERYONE stand on the edge so we can go between sectors, please and thank you). However, I understand the frustration for everyone who never played it before and didn't buy the game to get an instruction manual with it.

In the end, lets use the forums and Google to figure out how to play, and make an effort to enjoy this game if we aren't already. A bad user interface is enough to stop playing a game over, but please don't judge the game's interface on being too impatient to learn the system.

  • Screenshots 1, 2 and 4 are all the same

  • Holy mother of god!

I missed this game, played it a decade ago and I still wanna go at it

  • I totally loved the PC version of this game, except the bugs that crashed when you took a ride in the helicopter. This is good, but the controls aren't as good as using a mouse. But hey, its jagged alliance, and for all those who didn't get to play it on the PC, persist with the game, as it is very, very good. I agree thatdamnasianR, UFO should be done next, that was oh so cool too, especially the cheats to make your xcom men super. Also can you do Wizball, a Monkey Island point and click adventure, and maybe even the C64 Bruce Lee. Memories!

  • This is the best game for DS hands down. I can't wait for JA2 on DS. I miss this old school style.

  • Foooo
