Its based on the boardgame catan so i think its kinda like that a boardgame on the ds should be fun when nothing else is left to do
This game is a board-game/strategy type of game.
Catan is a board game company from Germany, it is award winning and this is based off of the phone game port.
It is a simple fun game that may be meant for more than one person.
It's a version of a popular board game. Settlers of Catan. There is a version on XBL that is meant to be pretty good. This would be the same I would suggest. Supposedly pretty deep with deep strategy elements. I'm going to download it in a couple of hours (I get 10 gb after midnite, but I'm an Aussie so thats only two hours away)

Settlers of Catan is one of my favourite board games (and I'm pretty meh on board games in general) so I'm excited to see how this turns out. For those who have tried it - are there multiplayer options? Wifi?

I'd never heard of the game till I logged on a minute or two ago, but I'll give it a shot. Apparently, from the gameplay vid i've seen, it looks like something to kill a few hours with... Never hurts to have one more time killer on the r4
I used to play a similar ver. on my N-Gage QD like crazy. Best board game ever! And it's now on the NDS. Sweet!
It seems as though there isn't any wi-fi support for this game. That really detracts from the overall package because playing different scenarios with computer opponents is not nearly as fun as facing real people.
This is my favorite game on the face of the planet board game-wise. Settlers of Catan is a complete masterpiece, and you need to play this game. It is a time honored hex strategy game.
No wifi = SERIOUS fail for this game. What were they thinking? I really can't understand why most DS games don't have this capability by now. Especially one like this.
Catan is not meant to be played against an AI. The trading aspect is the largest strategic element and perhaps the most fun.

Ok, it seriously sucks that this game has no wifi but I still love this game. Very addictive. The AI is pretty good so playing against a computer isn't all that bad. But maybe if you don't know the board game the rules of the game can be a little bit complicated.
You can play with local players, but I am not sure you can do single cart support. When you create a new game, you can add human opponents which turns on the local support. There is a join game option too which I think is local support, but I am not sure about Wi-Fi.
This game is SO good for Settlers. It has Seafarers and Harbormaster variants as well as a lot of options for quick play. The AI seems pretty good, but better than I expected at times for a DS game.
I am sad that the distribution of this game is so poor. I think you can buy it through a German website and at some stores. If it is not on Amazon.com, then they are doomed to fail. This is too bad. I have played 8 levels in the campaign and love it. 5 stars for me, this one is for the Catan fans!
Given that my son adores the board game, I downloaded this one. He loves it, and said it was really close to the board game. We will be testing it with another ds and a friend shortly - they are both avid Settlers players. Son also says that the animations and background music are great, so I know he won't be saying,"Mum, I'm bored!" for these school holidays. Very nice game, unfortunately it freezes on the R4 after some time and one has to restart. Same problem persists with the PC version.

very similar to the real board game.
downloaded it and played it. it is indeed simelair to the board game and it will keep you busy for a couple of ours. didn't try to play against other people but it seems to me that that will be verry nice too.
Decent game. Good for a quick Settlers fix. But otherwise, you will get annoyed because the AI cheats too much. Examples: Numbers that should show up less always show up regularly as long as you don't get resources from it. In one game, an 11 must have shown up as many times as 8 and 6 added together. The robber is also very rigged. This happen constantly. The One AI would roll the robber and move it onto a square I have dominance over (that doesn't get rolled very often), the next AI would instantly roll it.
For multiplayer, there is a "free play mode" that allows you to create or search. I haven't tried it yet, but i assume I can play with another console.
