  • Un-patched version freezes at the point where the Hero is in the sky, and his bald-headed friend looks in amazement and the screen turns white...then nothing. Ironically, the patched, "fix'd" version of the game froze up right when I loaded up the rom with a white screen. I think I'll just wait till the U.S. release, as hard as that will be. I can't understand a lick of this anyway...feh! Can't wait though, the game looks massively epic. Oh yes, and I'm using the AK2i.

  • It's already released in Japan technically (to shops) and Japan is 13 hours ahead of EST..... Dragon Quest is the one who created the Slime = which is like the weakest monster in whole bunch of other rpg games.. lol

  • To whom it may concern: After applying the fix linked above (I hadn't tried the ROM at all before the fix) the game works perfect my my R4 with YSMENU. This will hold me nicely till I pick up a used copy soon.

  • I take that back it's not working, it freezes for me I'm using no$gba 2.6

  • @Le3f: I do in fact have AKAIO 1.4.1 firmware (if that's what you were referring to), tried the fix once again to double check and got the same result: white screen immediately when the game tries to load.



    No problem though, I was simply going to demo the game but I'd rather experience it as a whole when it releases in the U.S. For what it's worth, my friend is using the same updated firmware, AKAIO 1.4.1, on his R4i and the patched version of the game (obtained from the link on this page) works perfectly fine. He got past the intro and all and is currently exploring the world map, battling baddies.

  • I'm gonna run this through my r4 in the mean time on my old ds lite then try to transfer the save over to my ak2i and see what happens.

  • To use the fix just put the fix files (all of them) in the same directory of the game, then run the .bat

  • After running the fix, getting past the first battle etc, I'm really impressed. Took some time to work out the interface, but it's a fun enough game.



    Still, I'll wait for an English release to be confirmed until I put some serious time in.

  • I am just going to let you all know that if any game is plained for release on New Years Eve of any year, that means that there is no release date for this year and that we will be waiting an ENTIRE YEAR for this game. This is why I HATE JAPANESE GAME DEVS!

  • Fantasyeight, it's only in Japanese. Else people wouldn't be saying "I'll wait for the english release" or "English release is planned on 31st of December 2009".



    If it's done in July for Japanese release, it shouldn't be a LONG time before we see it in english. Hopefully early 2010. *crosses fingers*

  • You have to wait for the exe/dos window to close before it is done. That is the only visual notifier. You can refresh the folder view and check file size. Should be the same when repacked as the original.

  • I spoke too soon. It won't run on my R4... The unpacking/repacking finished, but alas, black screen upon first run. Any suggestions?

  • Doesn`t work on my m3 real card.only get a white screen.

  • The game runs smoothly on the CycloDS FW 1.54 after it has been patched. The style in the overworld is similar to DQM Joker where you see the enemies and choose whether or not to fight them. So far(after two areas) the game play is fun and the story is in Japanese...(best cut scene ever in my opinion) so I cannot say how enticing the plot is. Fortunately, just talk to all the NPC's and if that doesn't work, go to Youtube where two users are providing video walkthroughs to get you through any points you become stuck.

  • DQ 7 for DS very unlikely due to the amount of detail in the quests and NPC involvement.



    R4 support...probably best to use Yasu's YSmenu to get updated firmware since the R4 is pretty much a dead project from the original team.



    One thing I did notice is that the number of people in your party and their levels affect how much experience they each get. It's not an even distribution like in the FF's but based on how strong the character is going into the battle.

  • You could just use desmume, it works fine for me. Make sure you have at least version .9.2 though. Also, the fix isn't needed if you use desmume, and make sure to set your save type to 512 kbit eeprom

    Don't import it, just wait for the english release and get it then. If you don't have a card just pick it up in your local store

  • There is a possibility that there will be some downloadable content, but that will probably be reserved for the DSi. Also, as has been a hot topic online, the multiplayer is only for ad hoc and not WLAN. In short, you can only play multiplayer if you are within DS range of another player with the cartridge (or most likely any slot 1 card). If this is the case then I doubt a friend code will be necessary.

    some say it works with no problem, some say it doesn't work properly and contains a malware virus

    I won't get it myself and see because i already got a virus before and it was extremely bad (stupid malware doctor virus) so i'm not taking a risk and i'll wait until the english version is released and HOPEFULLY that wont have a stupid virus on there

    Also the game looks pretty good as i looked into it

  • @ mishioshu this rom on romulation is not the virus version. the virus only affects the ds firmware not your computer, so you dont have to worry. look for the patch to make the game(romulation version) work on gbatemp, that is what i used and it now works for my r4 with ysmenu

  • Stupid and very redundant question on this posting, but is an english translation patch in the works for this game yet? Assuming localization time, it probably won't be out until next spring in the US...just wondering if there was a patch in the works for an earlier fix.

  • I doubt it. Knowing that there will eventually be an official english release is enough to stop any fan translation project. Either play the J version, or wait until the official US one.

  • I love this game. I has the party creation system from Dragon Quest III where you can make your own characters and form a party with them.

    I currently have a party of the Heroine, A Thief, Fighter, and Mage.

    Their names are (Left to right order)

    Kitara, Kimira, Katsume, and Melovia

    *All of their names where made imputed in Kana, and Melovia was a pain to input due to Romanji.

  • This is ranked as the best selling DS game on the Japanese Amazon site. However, it only has 3 out of 5 stars, whereas the earlier one had around a 4.5/5. So Japanese people seem to say this one is way inferior.

  • In my openion, the game could been better. Especially since they took so long to release the game and delayed it couple of times. It's better than 8, but not as good as some other DQ. My favorite was 2 on "Famicon". By the way this file works fine on my R4 w/ patch.

  • I haven't download this yet. I once acidentally turned my DSL to Japanese with YSmenu...What does "bricking your DS" means? Sorry, it may sound out of topic. Oh wait...probably it was a wrong language firmware.

  • i like dragon quest atmosphere and changeable views (i was amazed,i thought the gfx were static in Heavenly Bride.it is gorgeous). But i dont like the turbant "hats" on my main characters.makes him look like his head is freakishly tall
