Nice Remake... I really love Saga...
PS: Featuring old Piracy Check... I think...
is this turn based game ?
There are lots of remakes happening nowadays, but this one looks really good. Based on the GameBoy RPG which was released in 1990 under the name of SaGa 2 Hiho Densetsu, this NDS remake has not only been given a longer subtitle, but was also developed by Square-Enix and it features sweet graphics, improved game mechanics and systems, and a multiplayer mode to complement the package.
There are also a lot of famous people who worked on it such as SaGa series mastermind Akitoshi Kawazu and Hiromichi Tanaka (of Xenogears, Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy XI fame) just to name a few.
I hope someone makes an english patch, alot of people have said that there is a VERY slim chance that SaGa 2 Remake would make it over here in America.
I still own the original NA release if this game, Final Fantasy Legend II for Gameboy. It remains one of my favorite RPGs, and my favorite among the SaGa series, so I am quite excited for this remake. The original game featured little relative text, for an RPG, and should be playable with rudimentary to no knowledge of Japanese.
Please note that there DOES seem to be an anti-piracy check which black screens right after the first event scene, I'm on an R4, so other users of this card may run into problems.
As Mr.Mister stated, yes, there is an incredibly low chance that this game will be given an English release, though it is worth noting that RPGs all sell very well on the DS outside of Japan, so there may be hope. Until then, practice your Japanese and try and find someone to break the security I suppose.
i found the anti piracy check

I can confirm the patch gunnerslovers linked to. It's working fine so far.
Thanks man, you've done us a service.
yup I just tried the patch and it got past the 1st cutscene, using a DSTTi
Legend II? Is this the one where it's sort of hack and slash (ActionRPG) or the old-school RPG Genbu-Seiryuu-Byakko-Suzaku storyline one?
I like the second one i mentioned better (monster characters morphing on monster meat! very very very cool! and the Elf random magic gene stuff is cool too)
hope it's the old-school one. :) downloading.
to all those who dont know how to use the patch gunnerslover posted, just unzip the program with winrar or something, run it, then click the lower right option of the program, select the rom, overwrite it and you're done :)
If you want to check whether its been patched check the time when the rom was last modified, it should match up to your time
@ferofax It's a remake of Final Fantasy Legend II, the sequel to Final Fantasy Legend (the one with Genbu et al). The Action RPG was Mystic Quest, which was remade as Sword of Mana on GBA.
^ no sword of mana was a remake of final fantasy adventure.
EDIT: just found out the european version was called mystic quest im guessing u were right unless u meant the super nintendo ame which sucked :P
Is anyone able to save their game? I bring up my save data screen and when I try to, I get a popup message and the game does not save.
so...is this REALLY a final fantasy Legend II remake? Cause that game was a greatly awesome Secret of Mana style game. This...just looks like every other turn-based rpg out there. I mean, I like turn-based and all, but this game, if it IS what you say it is, should NOT be turn-based...
Nekosabre, you're confusing FF Legend II with FF Adventure, which was actually the first game in the "Mana" series. FF Legend II was turn-based. It was one of the original SaGa games, so there was weapon/item durability, custom parties with multiple races (Robots were ridiculously overpowered in the original), and of course monster-morphing via eating meat. Some of these features lived on in other SaGa games such as Romancing SaGa and SaGa Frontier.
It's definitely a "not for everybody" series, but for me, FF Legend II was one of the BEST RPGs... OF ALL TIME. OF ALL TIME! The original FFL was good, and FFLIII was great, but FFLII had something special about it that just can't be measured, and really made it stand out among the old RPGs. Somehow they managed to fit a large intriguing adventure onto a Gameboy cartridge and made the plot understandable with big constraints on text and dialogue. It also had an amazing soundtrack, given the limitations of the system. I think FFLII stood out because of the many concepts and characters that were iconic, creating a very memorable gameplay experience. I played FFLII several times over as a kid, and recently dusted off the cartridge and played through it again... still every bit as entertaining as it always was.
I really hope it sees a US release, I'd buy it for my collection if it did. But if not (which seems likely at this point), then my hopes go out to the homebrew translation team. I'll be rooting for those guys and crossing my fingers.
Game not working on AKAIO 1.5 - probably have to try different loaders. What a pain
