Great that it's here! I finished the US version yesterday. It's a FANTASTIC GAME.
For (the small group of) people who don't know Layton: It's an Adventure game with 150 puzzles. There are a few characters from Professor Layton and the Curious Village, though you can fully follow the story without playing the first one. (I didn't play Curious Village).

You are right. It's only in English, 'cause i couldn't choose a different language. I guess I have to wait for the Dutch version (I already played the (U) version and completed it, but i want to check how f*cked up the Dutch voices are).

With the large amount of voice and video on this, I would guess there's a separate version for each language.
This is arguably the best adventure/puzzle (and near the end, some intense action) series on the ds.

I finished the (U) version it's an awesome game with a compeling story line. I normally hate puzzle games but Layton just got me hooked.
Proffesor layton and Pandora's box is the EXACT same game as the Proffesor layton and the diabolical box. The game is made up of 150 puzzles, the whole game is based around the puzzles. The story line goes something like this:
Profesor Layton and his young aprentise Luke were sent a letter from their old friend, he had come across a rare box that was said to be cursed and was called "Pandora's Box". he wrote that his curiosity was to overwhelming and that he would soon open the box. Luke and Layton set off by train to go and see their friend and when arriving they come across his dead body. they call the police and find that the box was gone with a few clues left behind. every time you go places people will ask you to figure out puzzles for them, you can be rewarded sometimes. you can ether take a clue (there are three to each puzzle) which you can only get with hint coins which you find everywhere. Or you can leave the puzzle unfinished and come back to it later. there are certain points in the game when you can't get to the next part unless you have solved a certain amount of puzzles. you can find the unfinished puzzles in granny riddletons shack which is found in multiple places.

The letter 'E' after the game indicates 'English', other versions normally have 'G' for Germany or 'I' for Italy etc. I would imagine there will be seperate versions for the other European countries.

Regarding my last comment above, I can confirm that this game DOES work on the R4, well, it does on mine anyway, graphics look better on this new release as well.

that's just half true, because the (E) indicates, that it's the European version, and in many (E) games, there are multiple languages, such as English, German, Italian, etc...
many Games are released Europe-wide, which leads to multilanguage releases, but in this case other European countries have to wait for their vernacular version.
the dutch version is translated by a guy who works for the greatest game magazine of the netherlands. jurjen. only dutch persons will understand what i'm saying with that.

i've been waiting on this since i finished the first one months and months ago - just put it on and an hour had passed in blink of an eye seems to live up to the standard of first game!
I think its just the voices are different in the european and american version
some puzzles are different in this compared to (U) since some of them would only make sense to people in the UK.
in the last game, there were only about 5 puzzles replaced with a different one.

this is only a tittle change heck this tittle is right if you search diabolical box you get nothing search Pandora box you get loads its either a Greek or roman legend something like that
this game professor layton's "pandora's box" is the EXACT same as the previous professor layton's "diabolic box"
This is great! The only thing I didn't like about this is the change of voices. Other than that, splendid!

Diabolical and Pandora are the same games. Wha might be different is some word i.e. trash can for rubbish bin, fire truck for fire engine etc

I am a big fan of Professor Leyton... but found the puzzles in the Diabolical Box/Pandora's box (which is the same thing!!!) not as good as The Curious Village.
Although the extras are a lot better... The Hamster game in particular.

just finished the game today and thought it was great. The puzzles are a lot easier than the Curious Village, but a good storyline.

umm blaziken113 DS GAMES ARE NOT REGION CODED the only ones that you cant play on your ds are the chinese games, because only the chinese ds has their alphabet
Has anyone had a problem near the end of the game? On both this version and the US version when I got near the end solving the puzzle of unlocking the box the game freezes. I'm using an M3 card with the latest firmware.
Yeah I had the same problem, the game froze when I tried to open pandoras box,please help.....

Wow this game is awesome. The 150 puzzles are intriguing. One of the all time best series!!
They often simplify the names of games and books for the American market. I guess their marketing department determined not enough Americans know about Pandora and her box...
