HELL YEAH! I'm so downloading this. I doubt the developer's ability to mess up the conversion so I assume it'll be amusingly difficult.
the PC version is a ton of fun, i hope this one is too!
I got the Wii version.
It's ok if you like Wally (why the hell do they still call him Waldo at US?), but if you don't, don't even bother to download.
I loved it.
Because Waldo's his name and has always been his name in NA and that's still what his successful book franchise is called here, so the question is, why would they change it now?
"In the game, players look for Waldo and friends, in addition to hundreds of hidden items in twelve different magical worlds. "Where's Waldo? The Fantastic Journey" can be played in single- or multiplayer mode. In the multiplayer mode, gameplay is enhanced through a variety of power-up features where players unleash different special effects to gain an advantage over opponents or enhance their own search capabilities."
Yay I remember this............. When I was like......5 or 6. Think I'll give it a miss even if it is free.
Verry funny game :)
So I totally thought this would be lame when I first saw it was coming out and was like, yeah - welcome back to the '90s. Then I did some searching in memory lane and remembered how much I enjoyed these books and tried this out and it's awesome! It's taken directly from (I think) the first book, one I had anyway, and I totally remember all the little things going on in the pages. I used to love just looking at the little guys and they're reproduced it perfectly, with tiny animations and sound effects. All sorts of little mini games on top of finding Waldo...so much better than other seek-and-find games.
Wonderful!
Only if you liked the original books, it's something for you.
It has got some extra things (speech, movement,...) but generally, it's the exact same game: Find Waldo and other objects.
Dutch: Waar is Waldo (book)
French: Où est Charlie (book)
German: Wo ist Walter (book)
The game doesn't support these languages, though. Maybe in a EU release
In Dutch it's Waar is Wally, not waar is Waldo
fun to play and its based on the where's Waldo books
This game must have millions and millions of Wally images...
I used to love these books so much. Downloaded the PC version and it's pretty fun, but I have a feeling this one will have an even better feeling.
its a cultural thing. if his name was wally in NA you would be looking for a guy with beer in his hand. the name waldo helps find the nerdy looking guy with glasses. haha
brill,im a mother of two and cant wait to try wally out lol
I have never ever heard about wheres waldo before.. But i will give it a try ^^
really good game controls are mainly the stylus.
yeah i only know it's wally haha.. didn't knew it's waldo..
anyway i love this game, gotta give it a try !
no way! where's wally...on ds!!!!
you're kidding me!
what will they think of next!?!?!?!?
Spankler, it's been waldo here for as long as I can remember, in the books, in everything. Unless you wana ruin my childhood anymore, his name is waldo
Very good game, recommended!
"Easy" --> smaller windows, more stars
"Normal" --> much larger windows, need to be faster to earn stars
When i was growing up in the U.K in early 90's it was "Were's Wally"......I think Were's Wally is better than Were's Waldo.
Isn't this the game where you are looking for something you can't find and some dude pops out?
....uhhhh isn't his rival in the yellow and black striped shirt waldo? ITS WALLY TO US PEOPLES
but it could be just as good as the books, i might download sometime
i am actually waiting for this game. I like it when i was young. hope this game does not disappoint me. i still kept a few books. Where's wally! here i come finding you!
This game is as fun as the books, to bad you are zoomed in so you can't really see the whole map at once. This brings back the old were is waldo books. If you liked those, and the humor, you should try this. Some drawings are even animated!
I'm from the U.K so i've been brought up with Where's Wally but I do know that in the US it is Where's Waldo. Doesn't bother me with the different names but I love this game.
No trouble loading onto my acekard 2.i. Me and my neice have been competing to find Wally/Waldo the quickest.
Very fun game. I hope another one like this comes out.
This brings back a lot of memories.
Didn't expect such a release! Well done Ubisoft.
Was looking forward to this for my 6 year old son as he loves the books only it doesnt work on my TT card
Well I am glad this is not as bad as the nes version. I beat that game in the time it took my friend to make toast.
man, that was over quick. But, judging by the cutscene at the end, it looks like they're cooking up a sequel!
no probs on my r4 enjoyed playing, only thing downloaded last night and finished the game this morning so not long enough
You do that soul assassin. :) I doubt anyone cares if you feel you're too old for this.
I've never heard him called Wally before, it's a UK/US thing eh? Those books were always so much fun, there was just so much going on at once on the pages.
The screens of this look reminiscent of that so I'll have to check it out even if it's just for Nostalgia's sake.
wow, its my dream com true. i used to read these books all the time, many years ago...er, not read actually XD
NOTE TO ALL
Europe and Australasia(Oceania)
its called "Where's Wally"
America, Mexico, Canada and Africa
its called "Where's Waldo"
same guy, same company, get over it...
ima check this game out ^_^
doesnt seem to wanna work on my r4, starting to think my r4's seriously stuffed up, idk must of stuffed it up somehow :P
har har evryone is like i got the wii version and i got ds version and i got xbox version etc etc but i just got the damn books lulz
i think this game will be a hit by nds i think i.....I still remember when I was 5 i was searching wally(or waldo) in a book thats was great fun xD i hope this will be as cool the book was
wheres wally/waldo game? god u have got to be kidding me!
Nintendo really have run out of ideas if they release a game like this.
Waldo, should stick to the cartoons, and the puzzles. Not video games
Well, what about if it was called "Where's Walmart?" Usually us Americans refer "Wally(world)" as "Walmart".
Actually - in Denmark it's 'Hvor er Holger', so the above that threw Europe in one bucket is wrong. :)
The game is good but very short!!!!!
lol, my friend, has a very very old picture book. It is called ,,Where is Waldo?'' too xDD you must look for waldo in those pictures :DDD i just remembered that.
This is a fun game I always liked the books when i was a little kid i'm glad they have a game now
thanks for this I'll have a sneaky play on this on my daugthers ds lol
This is pretty much a find the object (Waldo) game. I never had the chance to play the PC version but I was pleasantly surprised by the animations in each picture scene. Sadly I wish there were more stages, as this was quickly finished.
In the UK its wally aswel,
but Waldo <333 me luvs you long time!!
Great game, kept me off the streets for a few hours <33
Its just what you would expect from Waldo/Wally, nothing more, nothing less.
i had loads of the books as a kid and the games just as good a little bit harder only being able to see like 3 inch of the pic at any time but sweet nontheless GET IT!!!!!!!!
It's simple fun.
I used to love this as a kid but i'll give WALLY(why is it different in the US?) a try :D
This game is ok to begin with but gets very boring and monotonous looking for Wally/Waldo over and over again. You need a good set of eyes too!
Man, when I was a kid I loved the Where's Waldo books. I would mostly spend hours on end looking at what all the people are doing in the pages. Everyone had their own little thing going on.
Each page had all this chaos happening and you had to find Waldo and his pals. Then the last page would usually have everybody from the past pages all together having some sort of fun.
Makes me wish I knew where I left my Waldo books.
there needs to be a Wheres Stig game as the book is available online
OMG! i love this till the veryy endd! i loved the book,.
I definitely enjoyed this game. My only issue was that the screen is small so sometimes I didn't see the details I needed to find. Being over 30 may have something to do with that as well, though. I kind of wish they had something you could do with the stars, other than just keep track of them like points. Maybe have a little Where's Waldo store where you could "buy" different items and build/dress different Waldo characters.
i dont understand why its called waldo in american and wally in the uk.
beeg: waar is willie... ahahahahahahahahaha!
haha
...
ha
...
...
well, i refer to it as wally, cos thats what all the trillions of wheres WALLY books are called in my library.
anyway, looks at the screenshots, looks REALLY hard to find someone in that giant picture!
i always noticed in the books, that is the whole picture was full of green (a forest), wally was always harder to spot...
weird.
i always ended up finding the wally watchers...
hehe..
All that arguing over where's Wally / Waldo - I live in Australia, and here the books are published as 'Where's Wally' But I still call him Waldo, do you know why? That is his original name, and without it, the meaning behind Odlaw's name disappears. But call him what you like, no point fighting over it.
Does anyone have a fix for DStt as all I get is a black screen. Thanks
I'm just getting a blank black screen on my R4 card, any help would be appreciated.
I don't really like how they will zoom in to where the object/person is for you..it kind of gives the answer away
If anyone could please post a comment on a fix for this black screen, I have tried downloading it again, but I still get a black screen. Thank You.
Just wondered if anyone has a patch for the game to work with the TT card. Downloaded it for my boys, and once loaded all we get is the black screen that others have commented on. Many Thanks.
I just get a blank screen as well, I am in the UK so download it Europe Server, Please help
I'm getting a black screen as well. I have a DSTT. Assistance anyone?
When I add this file to my cart its not loading at all it show a black screen please help
DSTT had a firmware update 21 December. There's a list of games at the DSTT download site that includes Where's Waldo and Avatar: the game.
I hate to break it to the Americans etc saying 'its always been Waldo' etc.
The creator was British, and the first book was called 'Where's Wally?', thus his original name is Wally. It got changed to Waldo for the US market. Not sure why, I've never even heard of 'Waldo' as a name before.
Love it! Grew up with Waldo (
It's not working on my R4 with YSmenu.
When I start the game, the screen goes black, and it's stuck.
Help would be appreciated, cause Wally is awesome :D
where's dildo?
taken from lsl7
was very excited about this game, downloaded it, comes up with the loading screen then nothing happens, has anyone else had this problem?
@squirtee: YES!!!! Have downloaded the file twice now and the same thing - turn on the game, screen goes blank. Nothing. Anyone have suggestions to fix this?
same thing happens to me
The game doesn't load on my DS.
