what on earth is this game about
It's based on a board game from Europe, I think maybe Germany.
You and the other players create a map from tiles. Each tile has a different map image on it and you have to have each tile fit with each other. A tile may have grass and a road on it, with then connects to either another tile by using the grass or road. You earn points by finishing roads and castles. There's more to it then that though, but it'd take a longer post to fully explain the game rules.
I used to play this game with my pals in college. I'll have to download this and give it a whirl.

Carcassonne is a board game, you place down tiles and try to form castles, etc. You get points for the number of castles and such you build, and how many titles they take up.

I have played it on Xbox Live. It is pretty fun, I downloaded the full version. But I can't imagine it being very fun on the handheld. Maybe with DS Download Play it would be fun, but having to share a DS to play multiplayer would suck.

Well maybe that's a bit of an overstatement but the board game is really fantastic.
A shame the presentation and graphics aren't as good as they could be - however the game itself is pretty easy to pick up, and is very addictive.
This is an awesome German Board Game. Can`t say anything about this DS-conversion here - the PC-Game is very simple in gfx/sound but ADDICTIVE.
Ummmm I wish they had some of the expansions though. I just feel the normal boardgame is a little too simple. The expansions add so much more depth to the game....

Hey my brother has this game for the Xbox Live Arcade and he was obsessed about it. Too bad he hates the DS lol but I'm going to download this to rub it in.
It's a pretty fun game actually and a little bit similar to Risk.
in case no body knows this, carcassone is a castle town in france. it was ravaged but has been restored to a beautiful place, except the cobble stone roads *shuder* it is so annoying pulling a wheely bagy thingy on wheels over one. i know i said wheely ... on wheels

this game has nothing to do with settlers of catan. but i loved the actual board game, that was quite brilliant. i will download and give it a try on ds.
this is NOT catan.... it is based on a a different german board game. quite popular here
this game rules i played it for the first time in like 6 grade or something still playing it
This is pretty bad if you're playing on your own, it doesn't really work unless you're playing against another person.

Both Settlers of Catan and Carcassonne are great board games, I have both of them.
My girlfriend loves Settlers on DS, even though she just plays against computer players, so that must be a good game.
She loves Carcassonne irl and also plays Carcassonne on games.asobrain.com, so hopefully she will like this game too. I think computer players is almost as good as human players, it makes little difference.
Sadly, I can't try it myself since she tends to steal my DS whenever she can, she's completely mad about Settlers now. Gotta get her a DS of her own for christmas. ;)
I played this game in my schools board games club. Very good and satisfying if you are patient and can strive to win. If you don't like long games that take hours, I wouldn't recommend it.

ive played this game but i don't understand?!!? what is the point of the game! you only must mark "flowers" ill give it 6/7
this game is sooooo boring the instructions go on forever and they dont make sence i wouldnt recomend this 2/10
This is a really great game, but you do have to know how to play the board game -- the tutorial will try to teach you and fail. The rules on the Wikipedia page will do.
The basic idea: you are laying out a map with cities and roads and such on it, and placing your men to take control of terrain features. Like, you put a man in the city and it means it's your city. The goal is to place tiles to make your stuff worth more and other people's stuff worth less.
If you like Settlers of Catan you'll like this. But it's definitely a computer version of a board game, so if that's not your cup of tea ...
