  • i played the (J) release and it's great, but I'm a DBZ fan. I can't really picture others getting too excited over this unless they like DBZ though.

    I wonder if the (U) release will have a different english script than this.

  • Yes Luga, this is the European release of the Dragon Ball Kai game. Seems it was released in Australia on October 23rd. It's coming out in the US in November.

  • just tried this game, and its awesome!
    pretty easy so far, but it looks like itll get harder.
    it has somewhat of a pokemon like play style, walk around, random encounters, but its very much a dragonball z game at the same time.
    i reccomend it to people who who like dragonball, or rpgs in general.

    Videos show this game to be pretty good. I, like many others, recommend this to RPG lovers.

  • Nice games if you liked the GBA rpg Dragonball z ,you will love this.The only thing is...I am disapointed with the graphics.They could have look a bit better but they are very GBA-like,the characters are tiny and they could have added a bit of 3d (like in pokemon) to the game.But if you dont mind that the graphics are not too much of an upgrade from the GBA games,I am sure you will love this one.

  • in reference to my previous post, now that I played the Europe version, i strongly doubt the script will have any major modifications for the (U) release. maybe replacing the japanese dub with a funimation dub, but that is very minor, and i haven't seen anyth9ing like that on funimations website.

    Great Game! It supports English, Deutsch (german), Francais (french) , Espanol (spanish) and Italiano (italian).

    I have played the japanese one and I think this one is a little bit different.
    But I love it! Thanks Romulation, you truely are the best!!

  • Simple and easy, this Dragon Ball Z game is just like "Legacy of Goku I and II" for GBA. The story doesn't change a lot from what we all know (if you are a fan of dragon ball of course), the graphics... are acceptable and the sound is pretty... not a "have to have" game, but a game that is quite fun, it can take a couple of hours in the week.

    Story: 2/5 (Since it doesn't change)
    Gameplay: 4/5

  • this is nothing like the legacy of goku games. those games were much more action oriented, while this game is a much more traditional turn-based rpg.

  • I love that people feel the need to ask if this is in English considering the fact that the country after which the language is named is in Europe.
    But all that aside, this is a fairly decent game so far. Hope it's this good throughout.

    Once you reach the "boss" in the cavern with the Crystal Ball you are explained what the "sparking" means.

    Characters which are in Sparking mode can perform Combos with other characters in Sparking mode. To do this you have to have each character use a skill which can perform a combo.

    The easiest combo is having Krillin, Tien, and Yamcha all use their physical attack skil, the skill that has a fist for an Icon, not the normal attack button, while all three are Sparking. This will initiate a combo attack by all three, dealing about 250 or so damage to the first "boss".

  • Yes this game works perfectly with R4.

    I've been playing the game for over 3 hours and I have to say I like it. If your not a DBZ fan, this game is not for you (Even if you're an RPG fan), but if you enjoy the later stage of Dragon Ball and the early stages of Dragon Ball Z, you will be very happy playing the game.

    The battle system is quite basic but still enjoyable. It's the story that counted for me and luckily it impresses.

    It's finally a DBZ game that puts alot of effert in its least well known part of the adventure.

    the game itself really wowed me. the grapisc for normal walking are what you can expect from a ds. but the fighting system. i guess thats one VERY good reason to get the game. for the rest contains this game awsome team combo's and a great storyline. a surely recommended! awsome as always bahamut!

    Compared to all your comments this Game should be fun (I love RPG`s). What I would like to know is: Is it playable for somebody who doesn`t have ANYTHING to do with Dragonball? (like me - only heard of it)Or do you need some "Background knowledge" about this Cartoon to understand the Storyline?

    Oh, and I`m asking `cause a download takes about 2 hours with this fu****g 56k connection I got. :(

  • almost every friggin EU release of the game is in English language... even though UK is the only English speaking country (native language i mean...). Why is this so? Because we EU folks are smart and speak at least 2 additional languages to our own (i speak 3 fluently ,not counting my own.i am learning French as we speak).

Nothing new.I hoped for some real time fights or at least the special moves that you execute them in sequence,like in FF VIII ,u know?   • This game surprised me. It's actually a decent rpg. The combo spark attacks are interesting, as well as the super attacks. Though maybe I just like it when goku says "Kame....Hame....Ha!(huge flame thing comes out, dishes huge damage :P)" The only thing i find annoying is when you have 1 or 2 characters, you powerlevel them a bit, breeze through the level (and boss)- and then you get the other characters back, and they're nubs >:0 Stupid gohan!

  • A very fun game. I found it well-balanced and addictive. I recommend it to DBZ and RPG fans. Anyone using an emulator; check out the Romulation forums for help on fixing major visual problems.(Link below)

  • The game is a standard turn-based RPG with some new elements. You issue commands first, and your characters and their opponents play them out one by one in order of speed. It's up to 3 of your characters versus a similar number of enemies.

    The special attacks function similar to those in Chrono Trigger, where some attacks can affect multiple targets depending upon their positions, as well as certain specials of separate characters combining to form a more damaging move. These combos can only be formed by characters in the "Sparking" state, achieved by taking damage, hitting the opponent, and using items or skills to enhance the meter.

    Due to the story path only going up to the fight with Vegeta, there are NO player-controlled super saiyans. Broly is a hidden boss who is super saiyan, but was placed in the game for replay value purposes.

    The game does have a sharp difficulty curve. To avoid frustration, park your team in a dungeon area with a Capsule Corp logo on the floor. These are save points that refill health and ki [the game's "magic meter"] at no cost or limitation. Simply roam around until a battle occurs, fight, return to the save point when necessary, and repeat. I'd say do this for 5-10 levels per dungeon depending on patience and this game will be a lot easier. Raditz is easy if you're lvl 25, for example.

    My advice for stats is to increase them fairly evenly with a few extra points in the stat labeled "RC" in the English language option. This makes your character recover more health per turn, meaning much fewer health items needed in general.

    A quick pointer, Yamcha has the WORST accuracy of all the characters. Counter this with equippable items or technique [TC] stat boosts, or go the easy route and use his "Perfect Moves" skill. The trade-off is massive damage, as his Spirit Ball can outclass any of Krillin's moves as long as every hit lands. Why mention this? Because when you come to the point in the game where you can only play as Yamcha for a while, you will be very glad I did.

  • Phazeonruler no this game is only for the Saiyan saga so it ends when Goku defeats Vegeta but let's him go (doesn't kill him!)
