Okay a few people have had problems with downloading off this site.
Let me first point out that it DOES work, it requires that your computer or internet isn't overly restrictive but it's definitly possible. We're not here because we're assholes who just wants to make a profit.

Cookies
you MUST have cookies enabled for our site, if you must block cookies then block them on a per cookie level, not the site as a whole, if you do this we can't properly verify that you came from our site and not someone elses site trying to leech our files.

Header Information
you MUST have header information enabled, if you block HTTP_REFERER then there's again no way we can know if you're a good visitor or someone sent from another site directly to our download link.

Internet Security Programs
Some programs such as Norton Internet Security and some firewalls are known to block the HTTP_REFERER header. This breaks the rule above.

Internet Explorer
IE likes to sometimes block downloads from sites, and generally being a pain in the butt, plus it renders the site somewhat slow. We highly recommend that you switch to either FireFox or Opera Both are excellent quality free browsers.

Download Managers
Download managers SHOULD work; however, if you're tried everything above then try, as a last resort, to turn your download manager off and use regular, normal downloading.

it opens up a default download dialog. How your browser or download manager handle it is out of our control. By default firefox saves to the desktop.

Why did you change it from the old settings where you specified where to save it?

As I said, that is entirely out of our control, we cannot change your browser settings.

Unless you use IE, but thats extra 'functionality' that M$ decided would be a good idea to add. It is entirely outside of the javascript specification, so would not work in any browser that adheres to the specifications. Regardless, we make no attempt to interfere with anyone's browser.

points refunded; don't use internet explorer to download, it can cause problems. Norton Internet security does as well, so disable it.

Usually point loss is your own problem, it's not our fault you're blocking important information.

Really!

I found this site and thought it was a great site and one of the best. I was planning to becoming a premium member and also purchase lots of points. But I decided to wait a few days and see how it would go here. I lost points trying to download last night and got nothing. It was no big deal to me because I invested nothing (but time). But what it did do was cause me to keep my money. If I had paid and this had happen, I would have been a bit more upset, (no much because its not that expensive). Then I here how a points lost is my own problem, no disrespect to you, but that's definitely bad business.

I still commend you guys on having such a great set up, but in the mean time I'll just have to spend my time at another website until all the kinks are out here. Great site though.

MrJoBlo, we apologize for the inconvenience and the fact that you weren't able to get what you wanted. We at Romulation take all the steps necessary to ensure that something like this doesn't happen, especially due to the fact that we are indeed a pay-site.

We fully value your input and we are doing our level best to make Romulation as accessible as possible to all our members, premium or not.

However, in our defense it must be said that we can only act to resolve such an issue to a certain extent. Our site administrators, Seph and loonylion have been editing the site code and download system round-the-clock. However, you have to remember that the download system depends not only on the server that operates RU but also on the web settings of the user. Browser settings, third-party apps and firewalls all make a considerable difference and it may not be RU's fault if anyone does in fact lose points when trying to initiate a download.

However, we are pretty friendly and as Seph must have said (at least, he did to me... =D), WE DON'T BITE. If you do have a legitimate complaint and you find that you have been docked download points for no fault of yours (after consulting tutorials and problem FAQs posted both on the main RU website and the forum), we are always willing to make up for your loss by refunding your points, or getting you your requested rom/emulator/etc. We are of course trying to run a legitimate service (so to speak =)) and it depends on our response if we are to maintain the class of service that has become expected of us today.

We do appreciate your taking the time to check out what we have to offer at Romulation and we certainly hope you will re-consider availing of our extensive library of hard to find roms and content at some point in the future.

This applies not only to MrJoBlo but also to the rest of our respected RU members.

No problem, I too apologize if I sounded heated or disrespectful. As I said you guys here are doing a good job, I'm glad I found this place. I did read the FAQs but I guess I still got something wrong. I was trying to download Tekken 3, but it did not work out and I lost points doing so. But I ended up going out to Gamestop and buying the disc to play with ePSXe.

I will be back though, nice site. I'm sure I'll find something else I'd like to get. Once I do find my way around this site and can navigate it properly I plan to purchase extra points and become a premium member.

Well this forum is your first stop for any questions or download problems Smiley

Unfortunately we are currently operating at slightly reduced bug-fixing capabilities as Seph (the site's coder) is on holiday somewhere; therefore bug fixes are limited to what I can fix, as although I am competent in the language in my own way; Seph uses a different methodology that I don't understand too well. If the worst comes to the worst we'll send Phreak Hacker to drag Seph back Tongue

All that said, I don't believe your problem was the result of a code bug, so we should be able to help you with it.

EnJoY your time here at RomUlation, the Epitome of Emulation Smiley (Sorry nm Tongue )

All very true.

Btw MrJoBlo, feel free to update us on what EXACTLY happens when you try to download a rom so that we can pinpoint exactly what's going wrong. Also provide us with details on what browser you're using and internet software (i.e. firewall, pop-up blockers, etc.) since it might also be caused by a software conflict. We'll bring it to Seph's notice once he gets back.

Sorry for not being clear. Only non paying members arent a priority unless the problem really is on our part, which it usuall isnt.

the download link will work. You will have only lost points if it was a PSX or PSP ISO you tried to download.
