Sorrry for the super long comment, but there is some valuable info in it so please read all of it.
Hello. I am about to post the full strategy guide for this game. I will try to explain every type of unit i have used. I might sometime post some more tips so check out the comments list once a while. By the way, i haven't beat the game so i might not write about EVERY unit. Tanks- These units are pretty good at demolishing enemy infantry, but they have a serious setback: usually, the terrain in least half the map is super-effective against tanks. By the way, don't bother buying Panzer 1's, they are too weak to be useful. Infantry- These units are the "backbone" of your army. Regular infantry units are great defenders when it comes to defending your artillery or supply trucks. Another job that infantry does well is defending cities or ambushing lone tank units. Pioneer units are the best against tanks. Finally, it is good to keep a couple of paratroop units in hand to send out in case of an emergency. Ships- These are one of my favorite types of units. Destroyers are best sent out in large groups. These groups, if well managed, will bring down an enemy battleship with ease. On the other hand, huge battleships are like the ultimate artillery, they can fire onto an unsuspecting target from an amazing distance and do crazy damage. They will sometimes even one-hit-kill the enemy! The only enemys they have trouble bringing down are coastal bunkers. Airplanes- Tactical bombers are my favorite planes. They are fun to shoot down with fighter planes. Also, when attacking a city defended by infantry, make sure to have these planes nearby. If smartly used, enemy infantry losses are going to be terrible. Just make sure these planes don't run into AA guns! That will be the end of those planes. I am not a huge fan of armor-killing planes, so I have nothing to write down about them. My last tip about airplanes is to ALWAYS have more fighters than bombers, for the enemy usually has better fighter planes that you'll have to fight with your weak planes. Artillery- Artillery is also a favorite of mine. Keep these bad boys in the mountains for support. Also, make sure to have ALL your artillery set up before a large scale attack. One thing i learned is to use to turns of all your artillery FIRST, and then attack the weakened enemies with your tanks and troops. My personal favorite is the 15 cm. anti-infantry gun. It is very useful and not too expensive. Just make sure to have the artillery protected by infantry, especially when you are moving it!!! Recon cars- These are your super-infantry killer units. They have very high mobility, but they have the same problems as tanks. And, they are easily destroyed because of their light armor. I usually use them to scout ahead. but, whatever you do, DO NOT attack cities with them. Supply trucks- these are only useful when you need to move something across a road. Otherwise, they are basically useless. ALWAYS make sure to have a large group of soldiers defending these trucks. Supply boats- more useful then trucks, they need less defense and can travel further than trucks. Anti-tank artillery- same as regular artillery but for tanks. These units are useful for capturing airfields (where tanks usually sit). Also, i like them because they are SUPER cheap. AA guns- same as artillery but deadly for airplanes. Hide these guns near a soft spot in your Offence or Defense front. You can shoot down planes from a large distance.
Wow longest tutorial ever!
It's the old Panzer General ported over from the PC. Fantastic.
Man this game is like End War, with those battle simulations and hexagonal grids. I don't know why though, but this game got tiring. I guess it was because of the long talking and the slow movements of the game.
....I thought the Panzer Series was out before Advance wars but whatever ive been wrong before (It is fun tho!!)
Nice And Fun Clone Of Advance Wars
