It's good, but you're always at a disadvantage in stats (iirc, the first two fights, the fighter's stats are around 180 to maybe 200--a crapload more than your rookie.) it also sucks that you can't sort of grind training for stats (you only get the bonuses once for completing a minigame), so the only real thing that i can tell you guys to master first is DEFENSE. whether through dodges or blocks, MASTER it. if you don't get hit hard (or at all), then even that 1-2 jabs will work for you point-wise. and don't mess up the POWER COMBO (seriously though, they're pretty easy--keep to the silver and you're fine. and don't let the red fade out completely). it's a good game, and i'm really liking it right now. :)
I'm not very good at it yet but I think this is a great game - good attention to detail and boxing fans will appreciate loads of the features
@metaco - when choosing a tattoo press x or y (iirc) and you can change where the tattoo is places, if you dont choose then they dont appear. Small(ish) review: I Didn't expect much from this game, it's a pretty good little first person boxing game, it has real life boxers in it (which i didn't expect) including an old friend of mine: enzo macca'. The Fighters can be challenging when you unlock some of the more decent guys. Career mode is decent, has the usual boxing career stuff like training using the gym equipment, sparring, going through different arenas boxing your way to the top. The actual gameplay is better than i expected even if once you realise the best ways of attack you also realise the fighters all pretty much use the same strategy and fights become very similar to eachother. You do get "slow-mo combos" where the fight freezes time and you get a chance to bust out a big random combo if you tap and draw in the correct order given on the screen. My only problem was the bottom of your arms while boxing are cut off, but when you have Joe Calzaghe trying to flurry your face off you don't really notice it that much. A Tip: Always look to Dodge and throw 1-2 jabs to the body then straight to the face and straight back to the body putting in some hooks while your there and then as soon as about 2 gets blocked back off with your own block, i've used it over the last few days with alot of success and can connect around an average of 10 each time i use it.
My review on this game.. I've been playing it 2 days now.. Okay anyhow graphics are pretty alright, they try to make the replay shots on knock outs look like replays for Fight night, but it's choppy As for the gaming controls.. I found a lot of delay, and I think that gaming controls needed work on The customization was limited, you could only change 3 skins and u couldn't edit face features, and I don't know but for me I couldn't use any tattoos -\_-;; As for game experience, I say it handled pretty well, I thought recovering from being knocked down was unique, it was rubbing away blood rather than match the dots or constant button mashing (I think constant button mashing just ruins the buttons) Game can be fustrating, and takes a while to master, if I were to give tips I'd say launch a few strokes in several directions then block like mad, to me I had to actually make a wide stroke in order for my boxer to actually strike at an opponent the boxing style is actually first person, but you can move freely or actually side step or back step, Ai controls can be difficult, but I do notice that Ai's do change their style in boxing, some get evasive, some like to throw hard punches, I found the mini game pretty fun, specially the heavy bag, because you don't just hit the bag.. you got to move the boxer around the heavy bag to punch the targets!! I like the unique style of using a special, it's when your meter fills up then you go into a series of simon says with the stylus strokes, and you got to enter them all correctly to do automatic punch combinations My ratings: Sound : Lets be honest here.. the music is great, except I thought "eye of the tiger" was too old fashion and for that I'll give it a 7/10 Graphics : 8/10 They are alright, not so great though at least it was better than Showtime boxing, and didn't glitch Game play : 10/10 I'll be honest, I like the game play style, even though it is difficult, at least it was up to speed and nothing was choppy! Controls : this is probably the down side of the game.. but I like the stylus because it barely wrecks the buttons, but still they should of given an option, 6/10 Game Content : for this.. hmm I'll give it 7/10 Due to lack of customization and Music!! + unlockables for customization -\_-;; Overall : I'll give it a 8/10 although controls and sound may bring the game to a bore at times, I'd still say.. it's boxing.. and for that.. being owned by a computer just makes u addicted and want to knock the computer back for revenge!.. so there is a bit of addiction wether we admit it or not =)
Can anyone tell me what the gameplays like before i download it.
Just can't seem to win even one fight. Is there someone who could give some tips? Looks like a nice game though.
Great boxing game. I prefer hitting computer human players and not animals like in that animal boxing game
Not that great IMO but it was a good time-killer for a bit at least I read it as "Donkey Boxing" at first though.
The game animal boxing pwns it
From the screenshots that I've seen. it's more of Animal Boxing than Hajime No Ippo DS. and btw, is Manny Pacquiao here in this game? lol
Just going to... :p is this anything like Hajime no Ippo one?
